I've actually been playing a game like this for a while now, using exactly the same method

Started at Bath City, and after selling a LOT of players (no idea which fool was at the club before, but the words "wage" and "budget" didn't seem to exist in his vocabulary) we're doing really well currently, with eight games to go we're fourth, and we've only dropped out of the playoffs once all season.

And Billericay have beaten me twice in the league, and knocked me out of both cups! :angry:

Hey, I started a game doing doing this before this thread began.

I took over Braintree Town, and after a struggle in the first season, the club turned fully professional and I could get some quality players.

I then somehow managed to get consecutive promotions all the way to the premiership and finished 5th in the first season there.

Not doing quite so well in the next season, sitting in 8th by january, the season could still go either way.
