So, think you have what it takes when it comes to developing youth ?
Think you can get the best out of your young players ?
Now you can prove it
The Challange
You will be taking over Furtuna Sittard in the Dutch Second division.
The aim is to take the club to National glory by winning the Eredivisie title (Dutch First Division).
Here's the twist...
You may only sign 3 players a year, and only one of them can be over 18.
This will test your skills at turning the clubs own youth products into successful players for the club.
The Rules
You may run whichever leagues you like, and you may retain players for any country(s) you want.
Likewise you may use any DB size you wish.
Player naming is allowed.
Tactics and training may be discussed.
All screenshots are encouraged. For example:
You have a young player, and you want the opinion of others on him.
Regular updates throught the season.
To show off your three signings.
Certain results.
Anything you wish !
You must post an end of season review, with screensshots of the league table and of your "Players In" screen, just to make sure your not cheating
The use of FMM and FM Scout is not allowed ! You'll just be cheating yourself.
The first thing i did was release the entire staff, and replace them with my own.
I signed a new Assistant Manager, five new coaches, two youth coaches, a goalkeeping coach, a physio and three scouts.
I made sure everyone of these has atleast 15 working with youngsters.
I also released some dead wood from the reserves.
Signings
Donny Gorter
Not an over 18, but only a loan signing. He'll be with me for the season, and adds depth with his versatility.
Typically he breaks his arm in his first training session
The Youth
The youth team looks okay. The most promising looking players are...
League Table
It's looking good considering Fortuna are predicted to finish 20th. It seems i'm doing alot worse, but hopefully a can keep there or there-abouts for a late push on the play-offs.
Signings
Jan Gerver
My over 18. Very old, but doesn't get paid much and does a job in the squad. He does however seem to be a bit injury prone.
Sunday Mba
Great stats for his age. He hasn't been at the club long enough for my assistant to have a report, and i coulden't scout him before he signed (he was based in Africa), but it looks like he could be a very good player at this level.
The Youth
The under 19's are currently 2nd in the league, one point behind the leaders. Although the level of teams they are playing isn't the highest (alot of non-league under 19's sides).
Jalal El Idrissi is looking good, he's already played a few games at right back for the first team (where he is being retrained}.
