Pacos de Ferreira v St.Antonio cp
Arguably, the biggest match of the season so far, with First going up against second
Pacos were by far favourites, as their record reads, 7 wins and a defeat, and The Saints away record reads, 3 wins, 3 draws and 2 defeats, not impressive reading for the Saints fans. A win for the Saints would put them 4 points clear of their opponents today, so this was a must win and a real six pointer.
But the Saints are just off the back of an impressive 9 – 1 win over Maia in the Portuguese cup, so everyone knows they’ll be up for it.
Saints manager, Adam Moursy, kept faith with the starting 11 from the Maia game as his side would be in search of goals.
The Saints were by far the better side in the first 25 minutes, and wasted many chances.
Pacos ended the first half the better side, but didn’t really have any significant chances.
HT Pacos de Ferreira 0 – 0 St.Antonio cp
Moursy showed his intentions by bringing on super-sub Sean Uhlemann for Luciano Scarinzi
And it paid dividends when Drewales cross from the left found eusebio who squared the ball to Uhlemann, who was on the goal-line, but that still didn’t stop him from nearly breaking the net, and sending the Saints players, Fans and staff including manager Adam Moursy into a wild celebration
The Saints believed they had won the game?
But had they?
Pacos equalized with an extremely controversial goal, when Ibargeun crossed for the seemingly off-side Inzaghi to score with a bullet header.
This sent shockwaves through the stadium, and Saints manager Adam Moursy responded by sending on Cavenaghi and Harding for Sean and Birdy and went to 3 – 4 – 3
But that how it ended and manager Adam Moursy was so annoyed by the Pacos equalizer, that he confronted the referee and his assistants after the match and also refused to shake the Pacos manager’s hand after the match
Could this be the turning point of the title race
The Saints are still one point clear at the top of the league.
