Like Roman Abramovich, who has the ability to use his money to "develop" championship teams, you can create your own "Roman" Empire using your skills to manage, network, and collaborate to "develop" championship teams in ways that might be difficult or forbidden IRL.
Since many forum threads express frustrations with human clubs being able to use their excess players effectively (either through sales, getting loaned players, loaning players, etc.) on the same level as the AI clubs, this challenge is designed to provide a reasonably suitable outlet for managers.
Game Overview: To create your own "monopoly" in the English Leagues using feeder clubs and parent clubs to help all of your clubs win trophies appropriate for their league. You can only manage up to 6 clubs maximum (one club at each league level).
Game setup: Pick a team in the ECS/ECN with no affiliated clubs and who is predicted to finish in the bottom half of the table.
Your manager's experience is automatic, attribute masking is enabled, and the other leagues available are up to you.
Using only SI approved software begin managing this team and developing networks with other clubs to assist you in winning championships.
During the challenge you can only hire coaches from the areas in which you can scout. If you can scout regionally, then you can hire coaches from any nation within your scouting region.
Every team that your board creates a new networking relationship with you must also manage (even if you keep the main coach on vacation and let the ass man manage the team for you). Teams that already have affiliated clubs in addition to yours can maintain them, but you cannot assume control over these teams.
There are various levels of difficulty to accommodate your interest.
"Sunday League" difficulty: You successfully manage 3 clubs who are directly connected to each other and who are present at a different league level (i.e. Arsenal...Barnet...Hyde) at season's beginning (after relegations and promotions are determined). You are able to immediately replace your own sacked managers with new ones of your creation without penalty. (If I get sacked at Wigan, I can immediately create a new manager to pick up where the sacked manager left off.)
"Semi-Professional" difficulty: Same restrictions as easy (3 clubs, etc), but you must also win at least one trophy available to your clubs.
"Professional" difficulty: You must accomplish the "Semi-Professional" difficulty tasks but also you must successfully manage 6 clubs (one at each league level) without any managers getting sacked at season's end. You also must qualify for the Champions League.
"International" difficulty: (You may need to start a new game for this one) You may only have a maximum of 6 feeder clubs from anywhere you can to help at least one club win a championship in their nation's highest league and one of them must also win the Champions League (it doesn't have to be the same club).
At this level, you are able to dissolve/terminate feeder clubs to develop new ones (similar to what Man U has done with it's feeder clubs system) to help you achieve Champions League glory.
If you want to post your results, please respect the following guidelines by listing your first club and then the other affiliated clubs in your "Roman" Empire. You can also list the championships and leagues your teams are currently in.
Please avoid naming players and tactics.
I'll keep you posted as well, assuming I don't get too bogged down managing up to 6 different clubs.
My first team is Basingstoke in the ECS. Media predicts them to be 21st in the conference. Requested parent club and Board agreed with MK Dons in English League 2.
MK Dons is predicted 8th, but the board and supporters want promotion. Requested parent club and the Board agreed with Chelsea.
You know the rest with Chelsea.
All of the connections were considered ideal because of proximity. Chelsea's paying MK Dons. MK Dons is offering no compensation to Basingstoke.
Currently, my ass man is coaching the actual matches for MK Dons and Chelsea while I am busy sorting out contracts, establishing training schedules, and assessing my current players with the friendlies. I'm only truly managing Basingstoke during the matches.
The immediate goal is to avoid the sack at the bigger clubs, especially considering MK Dons' supporter expectations, move Basingstoke up to Conference National and request a feeder club for them.
Any other overall feedback regarding this challenge?
When one of my parent clubs is an english premier team, I can request a feeder club with that same english premier club. However, within this challenge's rules, it is acceptable to take over and manage this new feeder club only if it is within the English Leagues.
For example, Arsenal already has Barnet as a feeder club, I can't take over that team directly. I have to work cooperatively with Barnet as if I only managed Arsenal. But if, under my reign as Arsenal manager, my board has any recommendations (i.e. a scottish premier and/or a french club) that are outside the english leagues, then I can't manage any of those teams directly. I can still accept them as a feeder club, but I'd be restricted to work cooperatively with them as if I were only in control of a single club (similar to the Barnet example above).
Does that help clarify this grey area of the challenge?
ok yeah thats cleared things up thanks. i started this challenge again because i deleted the old save game by accident.
i am now Salisbury, then Southampton and then Spurs
Are either of you having difficulty with player interactions following games after you've taken the previous match "off" (on vacation)?
I am, and it's wreaking havoc with my premier league team. I have over half the team with situations because I'm not "giving the team the credit they deserve."
