Playing as Reading still, it came to February and I approached some bosman players (Richards, Rossi, Song) and although they weren't interested in joining my club I offered them the best terms that I could - 9k a week.
Although several other players rejected my advances, I never got a confirmation of these players' signings but they appeared in my squad on July 1st. However, they're all on extortionate wages that I can't afford!
that happened with me- managing SWFC in the championship for a few seasons, offered Micah Richards the best I could even though he said I couldn't meet his expectations, no message back, but following preseason he appeared in my squad on 27k, I only offered something like 15k!
Simple answer: Your assistant manager did it for you.
In FM06 I was trying to keep Michael Ballack but he kept rejecting 60k a week. Went on holiday for a week and my assistant manager managed to get him to sign a new contract.
Exact same thing happened to me. Just finished my 1st season with Altrincham - Champions of conference, about to embark on League 2. Anyway, I offered the likes of Torre and Merida contracts (£500 p/w) even though they said they didn't think the club could satisfy their demands. Just got to 1st July and they are in my squad on £6k p/w!
Oh well, can't wait to see if they destroy this division!!
heres a way to get bosman signings in january dont know if people know about this or not.
When you have identified which player you want whos contract is expiring, instead of offering a contract to him go to bid and offer 0, the club will accept this and if you can agree terms you will have your player 6 months earlier.
Anyone else done this?
