After playing my 1st 2 seasons with jambo daves tactic iv figured its not as effective in 2008 version. i started with barnsley and in my first 2 seasons i finished 15th & 17th (jambo daves would never be this poor in 2007) it also concedes 2-3 goals per game.
i started my 3rd season (still with a pretty average squad, no better than half the division) and after 11 games my record is 10 wins and 1 draw. if anyone else would like to try out this tactic and maybe have any tweaking ideas here it is:-
standard 4-5-1 attacking
team instrustions- att-short-norm-yes-no-no-no (no playmaker)
player ins-
passing- all team
tackling- just mc's
pressing- everyone besides gk and back 4
pass to - all R/L/C
set pieces -leave as they are
freerole - wingers
forward runs and run with ball- ML/MR middle CM and FC
hold up ball - nobody
long shots - all MC's
through ball - all no
cross ball - all no
markning N-Z-Z-M-M-M-M-M-Z-M-N
let me know how you get on and il post you with my progress. im not saying its a good tactic, its just the best iv come up with so far

finished season in 4th. which for barnsley is quite good. lost in play-off semis to southampton on pens but to be honest my team was no good for prem
I have to admit that I often feel that way myself sometimes - imho its better to lose and stay in a division which you can compete in than go up too early and find yourself hammered every week ..
