Olympiastadion, Berlin

Memories of Italia 1990 resufface. Freemantle has done well but now he must face the tourlament's favourtices.

This was always going to be a tight match, and it was.
Both sides had changes. France was stronger in the first half and England was in the second half.
It was a good game for Barthez and Kirkland and the English defence was magical.
The only goal came about on the 24th minute. England won a corner and Beckham swang it in to Ferdinard. Ferdinard headed it back to Beckham and Ferdinard ran down the field. Beckham passed it back to Ferdinard and Ferdinard gave it back to Beckham, who scored a goal on a narrow angle.
But the 65th minute Dyer was taken off injuried and England will have to wait and see what the outcome is.

Kirkland 8, Neville 7, McEveley 8 mom, Campbell 8, Ferdinard 7, Beckham 8, Richardson 7, Gerrard 7, Dyer 7 (Cole subbed on 65 min 7), Ameobi 7 (Beattie subbed on 45 min 7), Rooney 6 (Jansen subbed on 60 min 7)

At the start of the match England and Greece had changes to score the opening goal. That came on the 35 minute when Rooney crossed the ball to Ameobi and score a lovely little goal.
At half time the score was 1-0 to England, but that was going to change. On the 48th minute Georgiadis scored from a corner.
Nikolaidis scored Greece second, also from a corner.
England's second came from a Beckham freekick which hit the post and went in.
Greece's second came from Nikolaidis. Georgiadis passed the ball to him when he was in a central postition outside the area, did a little run and scored.
But England got back into the match with a Ameobi goal. Rooney was given the ball. He ran into the area and crossed it in the ball and Ameobi shot it in.
The match was forced into extra time. It seem like the final was going into penalties. However on the final minute Beckham got a freekick. He shot and the goalkeeper saved it, but Campbell's foresince this and scored and won England the World Cup.

Another Tourument

After winning the World Cup England are in boyant mood. Freemantle and his team of heroes were honoured by a tour of London and meeting the queen and Prime Minster Michael Horward.

But now England must focus on Euro 2008. The group England have to face is:
Group 4
Bosina
England
Estonia
Ireland
Malta
Romania

Romania and Ireland will possibly be England's toughest opposants but Bosina and Estonia are no walk overs.

England want to qualify to the compitition with ease.
