Default Photoshop CS Batch resizing

Hi
I have just joined up after getting interested in a new digital camera. So I now also have to learn Photoshop CS as well.
How do I convert a folder full of jpeg pics with an existing 2560x1920 size to 600x450. I have viewed the photoshop help file on Batch automation BUT cannot understand a word of it!! Can any one help me with a simple step by step guide.

Hi...Welcome to the forum.

Create a new folder for storage of the adjusted images.

With one of the images open, do the following.

Open the Actions palette and add a new set. With the new sets folder selected, add an action. By default it should begin recording.

Apply the changes to your image and save the image in the new folder.

Click the stop recording button on the Actions palette.

Close the image and delete the adjusted image from the new folder.

Now go to the batch command dialogue and select the Set and Action you just created.

Navigate to and select your original folder of images to be resized. Then select File and Close from the destination option.

You can now click OK to apply the action to your folder of original images. These will be stored in the new folder you created.

Hi Quintain and welcome to the forums! I'm glad Sark answered your question about how to create actions for batch processing. I'd just add that once you have created an action you can also use Automate>Create Droplet... and it turns the action into a little iconic application which you can put on your desktop, for example, and just drop a whole folder full of images on the droplet and they are all automatically processed. I once took an archiving job for a friend in which I had to scavenge several hard drives and lots of external disks for the Photoshop output of a deceased friend. I made a series of droplets and processed all the files for storage with thumbnails, larger JPEGs for viewing, and burned them to CD along with the original files for printing. The job was over 100 CD's worth of images. Once I'd figured out the batch processing it was boring!. Paid well, though.

Default Batch use

Hi Sark & Welles
Thank you for the great replies and sorry I have not come back to you earlier, weekends get in the way (thankfully).
I will carry out both sets of actions as they seem ideal.
Thanks again.
