June/July
I figured we had to be looking to return to the First Division this season, though the board and fans were less optimistic. Some tough negotiation saw Ludo Roy, Steve Ferguson, Marc Smyth, Dougie Ramsay and Scott Chaplain take significant paycuts, whilst we added keeper Myles Hogarth from Stirling and a host of young players released by SPL and First Division sides.
Stuart McGrady suffered a bad injury after the season ended and won't play until September, but with Graeme Brown reaching double figures last season and Ludo Roy being named on the bench for the team of the year, McGrady's election as player of the year by the supporters was surprising. The only disappointment of the close season was a slipped disc suffered by Martin Cameron in the days before he was due to join, causing him to fail a medical and not join the squad. We were set to give it a go, last seasons's start forgotten.
