Well im carrying on with the game

Tough game against Southend this afternoon
With needed a win to get further ahead of 2nd place hull, Southend stood in my way. With them sitting in 3rd spot they surely wanted to perform so they got at least an automatic promotion spot.

A hard fought match saw the game end 1-1 with not much happening as neither teams could get going. John McGrath scored for us.

Goals galore at plainmoore Torquay 3 - 4 Doncaster
A hard fought victory against a struggling Torquay side saw us take an even greater lead at the top of the table with Hull losing.

O'Brien opened the scoring on 4 minutes with a great goal. 10 minutes later and Johnson scores to make it 2-0. A great start from Doncaster.

35 minutes gone and my other strikerBurton nets his goal to take us 3-0 up. Surely we had sealed the victory now.

2nd Half
Torquay werent going to lay down and die as they came out and scored a quick goal on 49 minutes. 5 minutes later and they made it 3-2 with Kuffour's second of the game. Things were looking bad.

Until O'Brien scored his second of the match to make it 4-2 on 61 minutes.

Torquay made a late charge and Graham scored on 75 minutes. All was too late as we went on to win 4-2. A great game for the neutrals.

NEWS FLASH

Wimbledon Approach Sackfield

With news of Doncaster doing very well in the third division a host of clubs are looking to steal their manager Danny Sackfield from the clutches of the Doncaster chairman.

Wimbledon are the latest team to come after the young manager. With Wimbledon struggling in 24th place of the 1st Division, is the excitement of a higher league going to lure Sackfield away from his current duties at Doncaster or will he stick to his word and fulfill his contract.

After a hastily made press conference by Chairman John Ryan, all the reporters and of course the DOncaster players and staff were anxious to hear further developments.

'At 2:00pm on Tuesday 20th January, Wimbledon have come in with an illegal bid to take our manager, and hero, Danny sackfield away from his hometown club. We will be taking this incedent to UEFA and then FIFA if we cannot come to an agreement.' Explains John Ryan.

'With being only 7 months into his 5 year contract we hope that (Danny)Sackfield will be loyal to his club and fulfill his contract.'

'We know that this offer may be too good to refuse but we, the club and fans, want Sackfield at our club to help bring success and glory to the club. We are high in the leagueand also on the road to Promotion into Division two so i just hope that Danny thinks about his decision.'

Up steps Sackfield
John Ryan stopps speaking and i know think it is time to make my answer.

'I have thought long and hard about this decision. Everybody knows that jobs like this dont come around often.' I said. You could hear the groans around the room as everyone wanted the answer quickly.

'But, i know the potential of this club and what it can achieve, and i want to be a part of the success and bring trophys and Championships to this club. and be a true legend of Doncaster Rovers Football Club. So with out further-a-do i am glad to say that i am going to be manager of Doncaster Rovers for the future. I hope i have the same support from the supporters as i do with john Ryan.'

A firm handshake from John Ryan and a quick hug was all it took to know i was part of this ever growing family. i knew i had made the right choice.

So back to my team and time to forget about any speculation with my future as i dont want it to affect my team or my family. Now i know how the players feel when they get linked to clubs.

Transfers

A few Transfers to report today as one player came in and one player went out.

Transfers In
Oskasrsson - £26k from Skied

Transfers Out
Andy Watson - £12k - to Rushden.

Unfortunately, Marples has agreed a contract with Notts County as the offer of better football was too good to refuse. I hope that he can still help us with our promotion push and maybe we will meet again sometime.

Disaster Strikes Bury 3 - 0 Doncaster

We suffered our first loss for a long time today as we were out played by a superb Bury team. We didnt even get out of first gear and Burt punished us well and truly. The played well and we just didnt perform.

Fortunately for us Hull city lost so we didnt lose a margin over them.

Sixth Round here we come. Doncaster 4 - 1 Watford

We were in heaven this afternoon as we got through to the 6th round of the FA Cup. I was delighted with my team and did not have a bad word to say about any of them.

We started off sluggish though as we let Watford go ahead on 19 minutes with a good goal by Gayle.

We soon levelled the match on 23 minutes as Johnson scored his first of the match.

On 37 minutes my new signing Oskarsson netted on his debut after a great through ball by Johnson.

2nd Half

Another great start as Johnson scored his second of the match and gave us a good lead to help us on our way. Blundell was givin a run in the side and he netted his goal in the 55th minute to secure our space in the next round of the draw.

Bonus - After winning in the 5th round we were greeted with the sound of cash rolling into our bank. We had just recieved £150,000 from the FA for winning our match.
