Champions League: Lyon 0-0 Man Utd

A very boring 0-0 by our standards and i dont think there was much to report.

Cardiff 2-2 Man Utd

I nearly slipped up this afternoon against Cardiff and many surely thought this was going to be a totally one sided affair. They were surely wrong as i found out. I dont know what happened to my team as we just fell apart.

Cardiff started the scoring on 17 minutes when new summer signing Paulo Wanchope sped past my defence and blasted the ball past Schmeichel.

The first half was drawing to a close andi wanted to salvage something from the half. All my efforts were in vain.

Second Half

With a diabolical first half i gave my team a stern teamtalk and told them to rip Cardiff apart. Cardiffs players must of heard my team talk and used it on us. They came out with so much presence that i didnt think we could cope. They dealt us a massive blow on 68 minutes when Robert Earnshaw grabbed a second for Cardiff. iwas gobsmacked, This could have been our first defeat of the season. Not if Ryann Giggs could help it

That second goal really shook my team up as they realised they could lose this match. We upped the tempo and Cardiff just couldnt handle us. We seemed to find another gear and powered our way to the end of the match.

Just 2 minutes had gone since Cardiff had scored and we made many chances. but only one convereted. Ryan Giggs got free with one of his famous mazy runs and got through on goal. He slotted the ball home. 2-1, we were back in it.

Things were looking tense as there were only 10 minutes of football left and we were still behind. All of a sudden we got a breakaway and it was 4 on 2 in favour of Man Utd. Toledo broke on the right wing with Giladino and Jo fastly tracking behind. Giggs was running from behind. Toledo screwed the ball back and it fell to the feet of Giggs. He let go with a ferociuos strike that no keeper had a chance in stopping. He scored and our bench went wild. So late in the game and Giggs had made it 2-2/ Cardiff must have been so frustrated after leading for nearly the whole match.

League Cup 4th round

Newcasltle 0-1 Man Utd

It seemed like the world wanted me to have the hardest possible League Cup this year as i got picked against 2 great teams. Arsenal in the 3rd round and now Newcastle.

As iw as resting my players it was up to the 'out of favour' and youngsters to get a run out. Old timer Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, who is retiring at the end of the year certainly is going out with a bang after he scored the winner on 75 minutes after converting a penalty.

Champions League

Man Utd 7-0 Celta

I dont know what had hit my team tonight. It must have been then two performances earlier when they underperformed and felt it was only right to tear apart Celta to gain back some pride. And tear aprt they did.

This was tipped to be an extremely close encounter but it was nothing near.

Toledo got the scoring underway in only the 3rd minute when he left the defence for dead and slotted in the bottom corner.

Freddy Guarin wanted his turn at scoring and his time came when we got a penalty in the 29th minute. So up he stepped, a 100% convertion rate so far this season (apart from the penalty shoot out against Chelsea), and he carried on that tradition. 2-0.

We sat back for 5 minutes and waited to see if Celta could come back at us with an attack. They couldnt. We couldnt wait for them any longer so we unleashed another blistering attack. The ball fell to Ruud van Nistelrooy who has no problem with scoring. 3-0.

Second Half

A superb first half but i just thought that Celta hadnt got used to the great Manchester weather. So i was a little wary of this second half as they could have came at us from the off. No such luck.

It seemed like everyone wanted tog et on the scoresheet this evening when Tomas Ujfalusi came up for a corner and made his presence known with a thunderous header into the net on 57 minutes. 4-0.

I didnt know what was wrong with this Celta side but i wasnt complaining. Ruud bagged his second on 68 minutes after some neat teamwork as he put the ball in the net. 5-0.

We calmed it down as i wanted my players to conserve their energy. It took until the 86th minute for Ryan Giggs to get his 3rd goal in 2 games. He later made that 4 goals in 2 games on 91 minutes to really finish off Celta. 7-0.

Man Utd 5-1 Blackburn

We carried on our dominance of the league with a 5-1 demolishin of Blackburn.

Toledo grabbed a goal in the 12th minute and made it 1-0.

Blackburn immiediately replied on 16 minutes from Matt Jansen.

Jo, another youngster, got on the scoresheet on 27 minutes and put us back in the lead.

Gilardino rounded off teh half as he blasted the ball home on 45 minutes and made it 3-1.

Second Half

Jo was fast out of the blocks when he blitzed his way through the Blackubrn defence to make it 4-1 on 49minutes.

The match was sealed on 67 minutes when Toledo picked up a loose ball and put it in the net.
