Is it possible for the next FM to provide a new module to the game; a match feedback system?
Personally i have issues with the way tactics are presented in the game (the use of vague sliders doesn't really give me the sort of control over players i feel should exist) but the greater problem is that it's just very hard to get a good response of where your tactic is going well or bad. Of course you can view full matches to tune your tactic, but this requires huge levels of patience and you would need to do it over dozens of matches to factor in player form, morale, condition and the tactic "breaking in" period. For a lot of users (me included) it's just not the way i like to play the game.
A good middle ground that i would like to see implemented is something akin to ProZone in CM. Working off the demo, the CM match engine is nowhere near as sophisticated as FM's, even with the "3d" match views. However, even in the slightly convoluted way that ProZone was implemented in CM, it's obvious to see that it is the ultimate tool for analysing how your team is going tactically without watching every single minute of every match (and then also replaying key incidents). I highly recommend that everyone try it out in the CM demo, firstly to see how far behind CM is as a sim, but also to see how much easier analysis of matches is with ProZone.
The tactical commentary provided is pretty useless (at least from what i saw) but being able to instantly go through and pick out incidents from matches, see very easily when players were caught out of position, when they failed to make headers, how well they marked their man, if they were quick enough to beat their man, is something that every football sim of FM's standard needs.
Now I know that the patent/rights to ProZone are owned by CM and so obviously it can't be implemented as is, but the basic ideas behind it are fairly universal and I don't see why a sim which obviously can store game data, can't give us a way of analysing it each according to our own needs.
As I see it, it's the biggest area where FM should be looking to improve in the next iteration.
