Default buying a player for purely for merchandising/shirt sales?

i've got a japanese feeder club was looking at getting nakamura to my club purely for the shirt sales.

at what point is too much when it comes to buying the player offset to how much shirt sales can bring in?

in fm07, i had 1 asian and one US feeder club. i didn't buy any players from those teams, or of the same nationality, but it boosted my monthly income from around 200K profit (or defecit) to £11M per month.

would it have the same effect if you wait till an asian youth player turns up in your squad (as long as you play him)? you can save some and gain some money that way...

it all depends which club you are, but i had never thought about boosting shirt sales like that... might try that with Juve later

thats got me thinking, how do you know if a player you sign will boost shirt sales? (without looking at an editor or anything)

international caps? i'm wary at using value to determine this..

top calss players will boost shirt sales.

buying an asian player will get all those fickle asians buying your club shirts as well no matter how rubbish the player is i'd think. its a lucrative market.

i usually declare an interest in a player, or place him on my shortlist. news will indicate if the fans are excited or not.

picked him (nakamura) up for £7.5m and the first news item i got was:

Quote:
AC Milan's commercial director has praised your purchase of Nakamura.

He stated his belief that this transfer will cause a surge of merchandise sales to football fans in Japan
.."surge" --nice!

now trying to find a US player to sign, going to have to be someone with a EU passport as i just used up this seasons non-EU spot on nakamura.
