Always thought it was easier on your pc? May be completely wrong, but was an impression.

I've a large database anyway.

I play on a small database, with only only one league. Don't have enough RAM apparently (512 MB), or those dual core things, etc. My processor is 3.2 GHz so I don't think that's the problem ( Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.20GHz ).

When I play normal database, or more leagues than one, the processing is extraordinarily slow and mouse clicking will not register until after 3 or 4 clicks sometimes. Even for playing a small database and one league, I have to unload the firewall/anti-virus.

By the way, around how much does 1 Gig of extra RAM cost these days?

And does anyone know how to find out which graphics card is installed on one's PC?

Cheers.

Just one of many ways. However, you won't get any performance gain in FM by upgrading your graphics card.

I've just replaced my old 2.4Ghz P4 and it ran FM2007 very well undeed with a large database, so I'm surprised that you struggle with minimal settings on a PC that has a CPU 1Ghz faster than I did until only a fortnight ago. For the record, it had 756Mb RAM.

That little bit of extra of RAM is really important. I have a program now that gives you the option to free up RAM, so I do it every now and then, and it helps the game to keep running smoothly. If I allow the RAM use to build up too much, it starts going into the Virtual Memory, which is slower. RAM can also be freed up by simply rebooting, but that's a hassle.

By the way, FM 2007 was considerably faster on my PC than FM 2008.

Thank you for the tip regarding the "dxdiag". Trouble is, I can't identify the graphics card on the list. But since you say that won't improve performance, then it doesn't matter.

I use small database but have lots of leagues on. The reason being, Si said a few years ago, so don't know if it is still correct, that a bigger database has a huge effect on performance. Still plenty of players to choose from and less random shitters which no one ever signs.
