Default DM Holding the ball? Why

I have a DM (also the same with the backup DM) that keeps holding the ball even though the "hold up ball" isn't checked, does anyone know why this is?

This has cost me too many goals and its really getting annoying. What happens is that the DM gets the ball, all my attacking players make their forward runs but all my DM does is hold the ball, does a 360 and the opponent then close him down and intercept the ball. Does anyone know what's wrong? is it something i'm doing?

What are his prefered moves and player instructions like? I have not seen anything like this in my games, so far at least

the ppm's are in his position tab from his profile although, if he's your man then surely someone would have noticed the same thing? What tactic are you playing and what are his instructions?

Maybe you got 2 many people making runs. Have you got both wingers playing attackingly, is your other cm runnning forward, is he already starting just behind the strikers. What passing instructions/creative freedom does the dm have. Mine does what you saying sometimes. But it is not a huge number of times.Mine is on low creative freedom, defensive and middle of the bar for most else. All cm combined are only responsible for 2 goals combined and it is near end of season.

I've noticed the same with my 2 DM's.They are pretty good too so I can't really grasp why this is happening.Their concentration and decisions are all around 16.No preffered moves for either of them. What I did was change their passing to "direct" and lowered their creativity to "little".It seems to work for now but it needs some more matches before I can be sure whether it really works or if it is just luck.Give it a try if you want and tell us how it goes.

I guess the 2 midfielders are running out to the wing. I guess then that they just too far away from him for his liking. As suggested try telling him to go direct or long..perhaps he is looking for a short pass occassionally and not spotting it.

Or it could be that he's trying to mark the opposing player closely even when he has the ball

My DM and his backups used to do the same. Then all of a sudden they stopped. Might have tweaked their instructions or teaminstructions but I can't really remember.
