Hello everybody..
As I started a game with my favorite team I had the following problem and I would like your help..
I decided to deploy a defensive formation
[DL-DC-DC-DR DMC ML-MC-MR(with side arrows) FC-FC]
Most of my players have defensive mentality except my FC's who are on Normal to Attacking..
Passing is short and tempo is slow (2 notches from the left)
In every game I usually have possession over 58%
and I also dominate the midfield BUT the opposite team always have more or less as many shots as I have...
How is this possible??
To let you know I make this comparison with teams from my league that are weak..
I played also some friendly games with even weaker teams and despite my possession of 65% the opposition had too many shots on me no matter that I conceded none because of luck..
The question is what am doing wrong or what shall I tweak??
I like seeing my team having possession but I cannot tolerate watching the other team making so many shots on goal...
I am waiting for your advice!!
Well playing defensive with slow tempo and short passing isnt really going to create much unfortunately. Im guessing you dont have many people trying through balls or having forward runs either?
I have no problem creating..The problem is that the other team creates equal chances...
For example I make 15 shots an the opposition makes 13..
This doesn't makes sense to me from the time I have 60% possession..How can they create so many chances??
Well playing at a slower tempo will mean you probably create less chances, but better quality ones, whil playing at a faster tempo will create more chances but they may be rushed. The reason the opposition is creating as many chances is probably because they are playing at a quicker tempo and presumably playing on the counter attack to counter your high possession tactic.
I wouldnt say that! Im just letting you know what the probable cause of the equal chances despite you having more possession is. Im sure there is a way to stop them getting that many shots on goal but Im no expert lol What are their chances like? Mainly long shots or one on ones or what?
Well if they are mainly long shots you should probably up the closing down or if you think this opens up your team too much you could go to opposition instructions before the match and pick the good long range shooters and select close down always. There is no way of stopping the opposition getting chances altogether though.
