Hello all. Currently playing with Swansea and I'm doing quite well for my 3rd season, challenging for the playoffs. At the moment I'm playing a defensive 4-1-3-2 formation based mostly on soaking up attacks then hitting back on the counter attack with direct passing. It's worked quite well for me to be honest. However I would like a bit of advice on how to stop my DM and CM both closing down/marking the same AMC/CM. I've conceded quite a few goals this way with the AMC managing to sneak out a pass to the unmarked central midfielder.
1) Should I not close down their talented creative midfielder?
2) Should I man mark?
3) How do I stop my CB from rushing forward to close down the AMC, leaving their striker unmarked for an easy through ball?
I'm playing 5 notches into defensive, wide at home, narrow away, low creativity, CB's closing down is on low, midfielders on high.
Are the DMC/CM set up simliar i.e mentality, closing down? This normally happens when they are. What id do is have the DMC deeper mentality than the CM and not have him close down as much either. This was they should no occupy he same space of the pitch.

Ahhh. They sort of are. My CM is a bit more attacking with some forward runs, but closing down is the same. I shall try that out.
What is your opinion on man marking the creative player in the middle of the pitch?
I only normally use man marking for my wide players. I found out in my games that if I used man marking on players in the middle that they get over stretched a lot and you get holes appearing. Thats just my personal preference though.
