Hi all,
Im AC Milan just finished first season, came second in serie A to a very overated Inter team I found it hard breaking down teams with the typical milan 1 up front lack of width formation so im gonna go back to the mighty 4-4-2 as I feel i need two up top. Im a big fan of the Gattuso / Pirlo combo in the middle but this leaves me with a massive dilemma, where do I fit in Mr Kaka? Should I cash in on one of the best players in the world or work my formation round him?
He has the ball control to play on the wings. Probably best on the left cutting inside towards goal, maybe on a free role. You could also train him as a striker, someone who comes deep to link up play like Rooney.
May take a bit of time but you wont have to sell anyone.
Play him upfront if you wanna go 4-4-2. I say play 4-1-2-1-2 though, so your playing a DM (Pirlo or Gattuso), then two central mids (Seedorf and Gattuso/Pirlo) and then Kaka behind the twwo strikers. Should work perfecty with Milan.
Gourcuff with a forwards arrow on the right, same with Seedorf on the left, Kaka behind the strikers. If Gourcuff gets injured, move Kaka there and put Pato in Kaka's role. Give Pirlo plently of creative freedom and allow him to have a lot of forward runs, while Gatturso sits deep and protects the defense.
OR:
Play this formation (leaving out the defence):
-------------Pirlo------------
Gatturso---------------Seedorf
--------Gourcuff-Kaka---------
-------Pato------Giladino-----
Play a short, quick, counter-attacking game. Set Pirlo as play-maker with no forward runs, and Kaka and Gourcuff should have free roles. You might want to have Giladino as a TM. Do not let Gatturso run with the ball, and only have Seedorf run some of the time.
OR
Use Kaka up front with a back arrow, but not with Pato, they'd be rubbish toghter. Use the same midfield as the one in option 1.
