I agree with what you say Grizzly, I raised this in one of the other announcements, not as well as you put it though:

I feel the Online forum covers both well enough at the moment. If you only had a Short-term forum can you imagine the carnage that would occur on it. It would only increase the divide that occurs in the Online forum as it stands. With everything in one forum it can be well managed by all those that choose to do so.

thing is the applicant thread is your clan start off, advertising for new players, it should then develop into a full blooded clan thread

I'd leave them open at the start as there is nothing worse than drivel when starting a longterm game. The posts should be of an intro nature when the game begins. if the game is serious then these application threads shoudld die when the game begins. If the game nevr comes to fruition or is not propeerly planned then just close them. At most Clans should have a official game/reports thread and an appliacation thread if they are fledgling.
A another good way to keep things fresh is one thread per game. Any ne wgame must have all the rules and details of what the game is about in an intro post so people understand who is involved and what times etc.
Just to hit this particular nail right on the head.
There will be no new Fora, sub-Fora or anything resembling such. SI would be looking to reduce the number of Fora rather than creating new ones, especially when there's no way they are needed.
This is fact, any further discussion would be pointless.

quote:
well actually after some feedback from others on the forum, i've decided that each clan is allowed one dedicated applications thread. This will leave the proper thread open to updates and banter only, with the application thread open to the host admin and search duties
With hindsight i believe that the above is a better course of action to what i had thought previously. It will mean that the clan update threads will provide better reading. Clan bosses will be responsible for the overall upkeep of their thread. I do not want to see any would be applicants on the offical thread but on the clan annex thread instead.
