It's the 1st of May 2007. Under 2 different managers this season Norwich City have found themselves rock bottom for most of the season in the Coca-Cola Championship and now there is just 1 game left to go. Unfortunately the Canaries were already relegated quite a long time ago.
It was only 2 seasons ago the Canaries were battling against Relegation from the Premiership, losing 6-0 to Fulham on the last day of the season, condemning them to the Championship again. And of course, it was only around 12 years ago that Norwich finished 3rd in the Premiership, going on to beat Bayern Munich 2-1 in the Uefa cup. Norwich are the only English team to beat Bayern Munich in the Olympic Stadium.
With one game of the season left, a visit to Pride Park; The Norwich board have sacked their old manager and have approached you with intentions of making you the replacement. Of course it won't be a glamorous job, you'll manage one game of Championship football before you're cast into League one, with a Squad that was small enough as it is without injuries. Not only that but the Board have informed you that the team is £20,000 over the Wage Budget and cuts to your already drying up squad will have to be made. Of course, your squad still has some of the big names it started the season with; Darren Huckerby, Rob Earnshaw and Adam Drury among other key players. But the question is how long will you be able to hold onto them?
If you should choose to partake in this Challenge, you can either play it with your own system and your objective is to secure the Norwich finances and ultimately win the Premiership and a European cup. Or you could follow this points system:
