Hi! This is my first message here but i've already visited this forum often to gather tricks (thanks to all of you!). I'm currently learning photoshop (with one of those "for dummies" book) and i'm having a lot of fun with this program. i'm really interested in sketching and drawing cartoonish stuff, i have no experience though so most of the things i'm drawing look horrible just now, but i keep trying. ;\

I really like the tone of this messageboard and i hope i'll be able to help people too eventually.

I do own a cheapo 4x5 tablet from a brand called Acecad, it's giving me plenty of satisfaction, um.. but it's probably because i never tried using a Wacom. ;\

I think i prefer the "paper sketching -> scanner" way though.

I use a 12" X 9" cheapo pad. A Medion, which cost just ?30 (about $50). I'm as happy with the performance of this as I was with my old 5" X 4" Wacom, but with the increased size benefit. The pen takes a small AAA battery, but that just makes the slightly heavier and thicker size more comfortable to hold. It probably won't last as long of course, but a similar sized Wacom costs over ?300 ($500+) in the UK.
