Barnsley vs Sheffield Wednesday

Manson : "Ok lads, final friendly before the season starts. Sheffield Weds are not only a rival club to us, they are also a very difficult championship side. Whatever happens im sure you guys will try your hardest."

1st Half

Early chance for Sheffield Wednesday, Tonio dispossessed on the edge of his own area frees up a ST who's shot is well charged down by Seivwright.

A stinging shot was unbelievably saved by Mac.

The match became a real derby as Swanson and Simek exchanged words, Simek pushes Swanson to the ground resulting in a yellow card for Simek.

Brunt is allowed too much sace by Roe, and shoots well but Mac is equal to it.

Tonio gives away the free-kick, which is well saved by Mac. Mac is really keeping Barnsley in the game.

Roe attempted to clear the ball, but mis-timed his header, Maclean pounced and rolled the ball past Mac. Goal for Wednesday.

End of 1st Half

Jehrome, we haven't started the league yet. Im going to play a few games later on today. I'll keep posting updates.

2nd Half

Mitchell won the ball in midfield and sprayed the ball towards Jago, who's shot was deflected into the path of Swanson who drilled it home. GOAL!!!

Wood for Weds shot, saved well by Mac but it was parried perfectly towards Johnson who restored Weds lead.

Swinson got in behind the defence but was not allowed the space he needed to compose himself and fired over.

Jago put in a low cross towards the near post, cleared as far as Mitchell who struck a sweet volley, whcih crashed against the bar.

End

Manson : "Well our first defeat of pre-season, but im not down-hearted as they are a very good side. I have only one disappointment and that was with Roe, who seemed unable to cope with their winger and striker. I will be keeping a close eye on him in the coming weeks for signs of improvement. Now onto the main reason we got together - the league."
