Default Commentary Settings?

The only thing I don't like on the handheld is the way the text commentary works, and I dislike it enough not to want to play the game.

I am happy with the concept of text commentary if its done like it was done on CM01/02

But I find that the handheld commentates on EVERYTHING, including the irrelevant, and its not even clear whether when someone beats a man they are doing so deep in their own half or bearing down on goal.

I find myself bored and distracted by the match day instead of absorbed.

I've looked for a "KEY MOMENTS" setting so that I can make the game sequence commentate only on relevant things, much like the CM01/02 commentary does.

But I can't find it.

Does such a setting exist?

If not, is there a patch available that offers something similar.

I would LOVE this game if the match sequence was more like CM01/02.

As it stands, I'm finding it not worth playing because it gives me loads to read, and about 80% of it just isn't relevant. It's forcing me to concentrate on things I needn't concentrate on, and the result is that I switch off my concentration completely and lose interest.

If anyone can help with this then please do tell me how to tweak this.

If it's not tweakable at the moment, can I ask SI Games to look at this for the future.

Thanks for your help

Al

The match commentary gives out an amount of detail according to the speed the match is ran at, on slower speeds it will give out more information than on upper speeds.

I would suggest running on 'Fast' or 'Very Fast' if you find the amount of information on the lower speeds too much.

We'll look at tweaking the commentary somewhat for the next version (as indeed I did with the last version).

Ok I'll give that a try. From memory though Marc, it seemed that the commentary just displayed faster so was harder to read.

Are you saying that at Fast/Very Fast that the amount of commentary delivered to the screen is reduced.

Or are you saying it will appear and disappear again more quickly?

Ta Marc

ok just tried that. you do get less commentary but it also flies on and off the screen mega quick.

what is really needed is less commentary delivered at the speed we choose in my view.

my speed setting was on Medium and i like the pace that the text goes on and off the screen, but the commentary is irrelevant in the main.

when i switch it to Fast the commentary delivered is better (although I'd say the reduction in delivery is probably too much. My team got a pen without any buildup whatsoever, just the announcement of "its a penalty!") but the speed that it flies on and off the screen is too quick.

I'm glad to hear you're tweaking this. I hope that user customisation will be at the heart of the tweak so that we can choose

a) how much commentary
b) at what speed we watch the match

independently of each other.

This really has the makings of a GREAT game. Make CM01/02 your model and this will be unbeatable.

At the moment though, the match day kills it for me. I find myself thinking of other things entirely and not focusing on the match itself.
