Just thought I'd add a quick opinion even though I haven't been here for ages. I agree that simpler challenges are probably far more likely to get widespread interest - I enjoyed reading, for example HD's Lord of the Rings challenge which was excellently thought out - the only problem was that it was a little too complex for me as a football-based story. That was largely because I have a naff PC though which dies on its feet with that many leagues running :p

I really enjoyed BobBev's Lisbon Lions challenge as my introduction to CMS/FMS partly because it was simple to state etc, but still challenging to actually play out.

It is difficult though to come up with imaginative challenges - after all, whatever teams/leagues you start off with the overall challenge is always the same - have a successful career and win "stuff" either with one team or more

Things is, we introduced an 'official' challenge to prevent people from posting 'do my challenge' typr crap that kept springin up, but it seems to me that although HD and bobbevs challenges were great and would rank up there with the best, the actual depth of challenges isnt there anymore, and I wonder if even three times a year is too much. Problem is, once a year probably isnt enough.

I think that's a pretty spot on analysis...

Only thing I can think of to increase the overall quality of challenges to choose from is for people to get their thinking caps on earlier. So please bear in mind the process starts all over again in about 12 days, might as well start thinking about new challenges right now.

Mibbe we should look at resubmitting 'failed' challenges, did we allow that yet? There were some that might have been decent. I think people also need to consider that with the new games, you just cant have that many leagues running anymore. A challenge like Soldouts for instance would be ideal these days.

At the same time, I don't think that making a challenge that everyone can play on whatever machine they happen to have is conducive to producing the best challenges. People will vote for their favourites in any case. I do agree that a more popular challenge would be better for the community though.

I had a suggestion I intended to put forward the last two times, but I the submission for both challenges (just as well the first time maybe!). If I'm online when the submission is happening this time I might post it, but I'm not convinced it'd be sufficiently interesting for people even though it is fairly different from most I've seen. ("Different" is usually a euphamism for "I tried to not make it the same and in doing so have come up with an idea that is rubbish )

Well when it comes time to submit I'll certainly be putting forward one that I came up with at the start of this year again
