Rep Power: 0 | Entry #1 - displaced_seagul Part 1; Bad Lads Army;
You are a grafter, someone who always wants to win - and isn't afraid to (literally) step on a few toes in the process. Pick a team of your choice - any country, any division - and turn them into a hard working team with little consequence for the discaplinary problems this may bring. You should stay at this first club until you have won your current Division at the very least. Full instructions.
1; Pick club
2; All players selected MUST have over 15 for the 'Agression' Stat. You must have at least 9 players with Agression of 15 or more at the start and the end of every match.
3; Win your current division.
It's then up to you - you can continue your philosophy elsewhere to one more club, or you can elect to have a change of heart... Part 2; Operation Good Guys
After being visited - perhaps by the FA, perhaps by those 'Fair Play' campaigners you would usually eat for breakfast - or perhaps, in the seasonal spirit, by the Ghost of football past, you decide to change your ways. Full Instructions;
1; Get new job (Again, Any Club/Any Division)
2; All players MUST have an 'Agression' stat of 5 or Below. You must have at least 9 players with an Agression Stat of 5 or Below at the start and finish of every match.
3; Win your current division
You then have a choice - you can keep spreading the 'sweetness and light' image that you have just established with a second club, or you can retire - happy that you have now 'redeemed' your previous past ways. Or you could always be tempted back to the 'Dark Side' and do it again...
-------------------------------------------------------- Challenge #2 - Bobbev The Brian Clough Challenge
Brian Clough was undoubtedly one of the best football managers of his generation and it was a sad day for football when he passed away on September 20th 2004 aged 69. His record as a player was extraordinary - before his career was prematurely curtailed by a knee injury he made 274 appearances for Middlesbrough and Sunderland, scoring 251 goals. But it was his managerial achievements that sealed his reputation. After a short stint on the coaching staff at Sunderland he took over as manager of Hartlepool at the age of 30 and gained promotion from the 4th Division. He then moved to Derby County, taking them to the First Division and winning the league title in season 1971-72. The next season he guided Derby to the Semi Finals of the European Cup before falling out with Chairman Sam Longson and resigning. He failed to bring success to either of his next two clubs. A poor season at Brighton was followed by his infamous 44-day reign at Leeds. But after 4 months out of the game he got back on the managerial rollercoaster at Nottingham Forest in January 1975. Forest were promoted to the First Division in the 1976-77 season and then won the title in the season after. This was followed by two consecutive European Cup victories in seasons 1978-79 and 1979-80. Whilst at Forest Clough also enjoyed four League Cup successes in 1977-78, 1978-79, 1988-89 and 1989-90. His only regrets were his failure to lift the FA Cup and the fact that he was never appointed England manager.
So here is your challenge - can you surpass the achievements of the legendary Brian Clough? Stage 1 - Hartlepool
Take over at Hartlepool and gain them promotion. Stage 2 - Derby County
As soon as possible after that take over at Derby and win the Premiership title. Go one step better than Brian and get County into a European Final (UEFA Cup or Champions League) Stage 3 - Brighton or Leeds
Take one of Clough's less successful clubs to FA Cup glory. Stage 4 - Nottingham Forest
Secure the Forest job, win the Premiership with them and then go on to lift the Champions League twice and the League Cup four times. Stage 5 - The England Job
Fulfil the great man's final ambition by gaining the England job and taking them to the final stages of a major tournament (World Cup or European Championship).
------------------------------------------------------------ Challenge #3 - Flipsix3 "Out of his shadow, and into his footsteps"
As a youngster you grew up in the shadow of your father, knowing that he was a man loved by the footballing world. His achievements were numerous, and impressive, and when you became a player - signing on for his team - there were those that said you were living off your surname.
Despite those nay-sayers you enjoyed a reasonable career, not that of a superstar but you did play in some big matches. Having realised that you were not destined for greatness on the pitch you decided to try your hand at management, still a relative youngster you learned your trade in the non-league world before getting your chance. Now it's time to step out of his shadow, and follow in his footsteps.
Brief:
OK, so no prizes for guessing the inspiration for this challenge!
You start your tale as the manager of a side in the lowest league of any multi-division nation; England, Scotland, Italy etc - for the challenge to work there must be at least three levels of competition, preferably more (note that in England I would suggest it is acceptable to consider the Conference as the bottom rung, rather than force people into Conference North/South). At the outset you must also nominate a team to be that which your father achieved greatness with and they must be at least one division below the top flight in your country at the time the game starts, you could choose a side that has fallen on even harder times (but they cannot be the team you start with) that choice is yours.
There are not many 'steps' to this challenge but you can claim success by achieving the overall goals in more ways than one. To consider the challenge complete you must secure: At least one domestic league championship (top flight), and three Cup competitions (at least one of these must be 'continental' - so UEFA Cup, Champions League, or their equivalent).
The only restriction is this; you may only tick off each title when achieved with either your starting club, or the club at which your father achieved success.
You can move clubs as many times as you wish, there is no time restriction on the challenge, but to finish it you must achieve the total of 4 honours with either of the two clubs detailed at the start of your tale.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Challenge #4 - Glamdring Changing the face of domestic football
This is an open-ended challenge so that people can
decide when they want to stop and how satisfied they
are with their successes. If people really want I
could give some kind of actual goal though.
The challenge can be undertaken in any nation which
has at least two tiers to the league system, but it is
perhaps more interesting in nations were the top
flight is bigger than 10 clubs, or the league system
deeper than 2 tiers - it is up to you though
ultimately. I intend to impose as few rules as are
strictly needed.
The challenge is to change the face of domestic
football in your chosen country over the course of one
man (or woman)'s career. This means, over the course
of a career, get as many different clubs promoted to
the top flight as possible and get them established
there so that, at the end of your career, there are as
many different clubs in the top flight as you can
manage. To clarify - "different club" means a club
that is in the top flight when you retire (or end your
story in whatever way) that wasn't when you began.
For example, if you are using England and, at the end
of your management career, 10 of the clubs in the EPL
are ones which weren't there at the start of the game,
your "success level" would be 10. (The other 10 clubs
would obviously be ones who were there in 2004/05).
That is essentially the entirety of the challenge, but
there are a few points to clarify.
1. For the purposes of the challenge, it doesn't
matter what kind of success you achieve in the top
flight, staying there is all that matters (winning
European trophies is irrelevent, but still welcome in
your story if you wish!).
2. You are only allowed one manager so you obviously
can't control more than one club at a time.
3. It is entirely your choice how many seasons you
spend at a club - you can get them promoted and then
resign instantly and just hope the next AI manager
keeps them in the top flight for you or you can manage
them as many seasons as you wish to make sure they are established so even the worst AI manager would struggle to relegate them.
4. Obviously, in this challenge, you have to rely on
others for your success (as in any good adventure!) -
some fellow characters will help you by keeping the
clubs you promote in the top flight after you leave or
by getting clubs promoted to the to flight themselves.
Others will hinder you by getting teams relegated
which you (or they) had previously got promoted.
5. The intention is obviously that you take over clubs
and get them promoted, but there are no rules against
you deliberately getting an established club relegated
so long as you can weave it into your story - bear in
mind though that you have to always use the same
manager so if you trash your reputation by ruining a
top club it will be a lot more difficult.
In the end, what matters is simply a look at the top
flight table at the end of your career compared to the
top flight table at the start of your career. Your
level of success is determined by how many clubs are
different between those two tables. How many of them
you got promoted yourself and how many were taken
there by AI managers, how many have been up and down
27 times before returning to the top flight, etc etc,
are all irrelevent. It doesn't even matter if all the
clubs there were promoted by someone else. Your aim
is simply to do all that you can in your career as a
football manager to shake up the established order in
your chosen nation. If you get a team promoted in
season 1 and they stay in the top flight until the
season before you end and then get relegated I'm
afraid they don't count at all!
If anyone knows the book "The Man Who Planted Trees"
by Jean Giono, this challenge was inspired by that -
to see how much one man could achieve by his own endeavours."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Challenge #5 - Soup STAGE 1 - D-Day
D-Day, when the allied stormed the beaches of Normandy. You are to take over
a team that is located on one of the following places, and do as
following...: Route 1 - Utah Beach - Liberate Cherbourg - Cherbourg, a small town
on the side of the Northern side of the Cotentin, was in the middle of Utah
Beach, and amongst one of the first towns to be liberated. AS Cherbourg are
their local side. You'll need an editor to put them in the lowest French
Division (National, most likely). Your mission is simple, enter the club,
and keep it from getting destroyed, manage them for one season and keep them
in National. Once you've succeeded, you may move on to the next stage. Route 2 - Omaha Beach - Reach Bayeux - Bayeux is another small town,
just down the road from Omaha Beach. Omaha Beach was one of the most
difficult challenges, between the terrible rip tides, strong offshore
currents and bad escape routes in extremely rough terrain. Bayeux,
therefore, is the hardest of the first round challenges, as you move them
into the Lowest French Division (National?). Keep them up, and you can move
on. Relegate, and Omaha Beach is lost. Route 3 - Gold, Juno and Sword beaches - Mondeville set free! -
Mondeville, a town that was in the route of all three of the invading
positions, is one of the outskirts of Caen, a major city the allies hoped to
capture. Just as above, edit Mondeville into the lowest possible playable
French League and keep them in it for at least one season to move up.
------ STAGE TWO - Pushing inland To reflect your limited occupied territory, you must move directly from
your Stage 1 team to the next team, you must stay at your stage 1 team until
you can get a job with your stage 2 team. Route 1 - Utah Beach -> Paris
After Utah beach, the Ivy (US Fourth Division) went West and beat the
Germans near Perriers, before being re-issued to Paris, to help the French
liberate their capital. Since the most of the material is still in German
hands, you can not use Paris Saint Germain. Instead, move to Racing Club de
Paris (who should be in the National League), and promote them. After you
succeed in promoting them, you will be moved to the third stage of the
challenge. Route 2 - Omaha Beach -> Caen
After taking over and keeping Bayeux, you find yourself on your way to Caen,
the major city of Normandy, and it is imperative that this city is taken in
order to liberate this part of France. Take over Stade Malherbe de Caen, and
finish fourth or higher to secure your place. From here on, you may move on
to stage three. Route 3 - Gold, Juno and Sword beaches -> Brest
The Normandic coast is secure, so it is time to move onwards. You have been
assigned to capture the harbour of Brest, an important place from where
fresh troups can be brought into the European mainland. Secure the city, and
expand your operation there, so that you can move on. Take control of Stade
Brestois 29 (who *should* be in National), and bring them to the second
division. (If Brest are already in second division in your version of the
game, fulfill the board's expectations). When you've completed this
objective, move on to stage Three.
----- STAGE THREE - Moving on Here, you may manage any French teams you so desire in Routes 1 and 2
until you can get a job at the specified teams in this stage. In route 3,
you may only manage the team you managed in stage 2 until you can find a job
in a 2nd division team other then Brest Route 1 - Utah Beach -> Paris -> Belgium
After liberating Paris, the Ivy (Again, US 4th Div) went north to Belgium,
fighting their way towards Germany. You find yourself stranded in Virton,
where you shall manage R Excelsior SC Virton and fulfill your board's
expectations for the season before moving on. Route 2 - Omaha Beach -> Caen -> Southern Netherlands Your troops advance North, and set out to liberate the Netherlands. However,
their advance was hindered at the rivers, causing the north of the
Netherlands to remain under German occupation. You will be in the South,
liberating and trying to make your way north during the hungerwinter of '44 Take control of a team under the rivers of Holland in the Second Division
(Eerste Divisie). Teams that are under the rivers are: Dordrecht, Eindhoven,
Exelsior, Helmond, MVV, RBC, TOP Oss, Den Bosch, Feyenoord, Fortuna Sittard,
NAC, PSV, RKC, Roda, Sparta and Willem II. Find one of those in the "Eerste
Divisie" and take over. To complete this stage, promote them to the First
Division (Eredivisie), in order to build your strength (reputation). When
you succeed, move on to the next stage. Route 3 - Gold, Juno and Sword beaches -> Brest -> Onwards in France Time to officially liberate France, and drive the Germans across the
borders.
Take over a second division team (not Brest), and promote them to the First
division, the highest division in the french league. Upon succeeding, move
to stage four.
----- STAGE FOUR - Preparing to topple Germany Route 1 - Utah Beach -> Paris -> Belgium -> Luxembourg The Germans then planted a winter-offensive, and your company is assigned to
stop them on the border of Luxembourg and Germany. You find yourself in
Saarland, taking control of Saarbrucken. You'll have to build your strength.
In order to do this, bring them to the German First Division, and staying up
for one season. You may manage any Belgian team you want until you can get a job at
Saarbrucken Route 2 - Omaha Beach -> Caen -> Southern Netherlands -> Northern
Netherlands
The winter of hunger in the Northern Netherlands are over, and it's time to
advance to the North, liberating them, and building a strong base from which
to invade Germany.
Pick a team above the rivers (e.g. Any team not mentioned in stage three)
and guide them to a national title, before you move on to the final stage. Route 3 - Gold, Juno and Sword beaches -> Brest -> Onwards in France ->
Prepare to attack
France is free, and now is the time to prepare for the final assault. You will take over a strong team in France (Div 1), and bring them the
national title. As soon as you've done this, you are ready to topple
Germany. You may also attempt to stay at your current team and take them to the
title, if you so desire.
----- STAGE FIVE - The fall of the Third Reich All routes
You've finally made it to Berlin. Take over Herta BSC Berlin, and win the
German First Division. If you complete this objective, you've defeated the
Third Reich, and World War II is over.
Well done. Once you've picked a Route in stage 1, you may not change routes. Route
Three is the easiest, and was specifically devised for people with
lower-performance computers, who can not run too many leagues at a high
database.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Challenge #6 - bartley-m The English shall rise again…. Background
Crewe Alexandra have been a nuturing ground for many a quality youngster
over the years. Danny Murphy and Dean Ashton to name but two. Sadly for
Crewe, Ashton appears to be the only genuine prospect to come out of the
renamed Alexandra stadium for several years, so when he is shipped off to
struggling Premiership newboys Crystal Palace, a state of depression hangs
over the town built around a railway. To make matters worse, the longest
serving manager in the football league (Dario Gradi) dies of a heart attack
minutes before Crewe start the 04/05 campaign. Managerless and without there
star player, can Crewe survive the new season? The Aim
To keep Crewe in the Championship for at least 3 years, if not get them
promoted. You must be in Europe within 5 though!!! The only other rules
about this challenge are you must not buy any players who are not English,
Scottish, Irish or Welsh and you must grow at least 3 first team players out
of the youth system. Steps to start the challenge
1.Use the Editor to add 6 million to Crewes bank account, take Dario Gradi
out of the game, and set Dean Ashton as a Crystal Palace player. Use only
the English and Scottish leagues from scots div 3 and english national
conference only.
2.You must be British or Irish.
3.Choose Crewe as your team
4.Get writing!
