Its too long for short story. We set that at five posts, becuase there has to be a limit really or it just gets silly. It should, in theory, still be eligible for story of the year.

Cait: reason that story wasn't considered for 2004 is that stories started from the last weekend of November are considered "2005" in terms of the awards. That's because the end of November is the traditional cut-off point at which main indexing for the awards begins. This year, the line was a bit blurred, because any FM stories, and as far as I can see they all started from early November, also flow over to 2005. So your story automatically enters the race for 2005. It won't, however, be classed as a short story, because like Stuart says, we have to draw the line somewhere. Having said that, FMS is always in motion, and if the general consensus is that the criteria should be changed, it will be looked at.

'short story' is one of those things thats hard to define on FMS. My own gut feeling is that Cait's story is short, but like i say, where do you draw the line? Even if you count words. Perhaps it would be easier not to have a concrete limit and let the panel arbitrate of any stories that may seem short but are questionable, like this one.
Anyway, just a thought.

How about "less than one page of posts, but still complete"?
Anyway, the date cutoff makes sense, was just wondering.

Just wondering if my Vaduz story shouldn't come under the Western Europe category (as another story has done) rather than the Rest of Europe category.
Not that it matters much; it won't win anything - a bit like Vaduz and Liechtenstein

God I write lots of stories. Sorry all
I can't really vote for this round as I haven't read enough of these stories, but will have a look when things get a bit smaller.

Just for clarity I wanted to point out tha tmy "Leaving the past behind" story that is listed in the nominees is not the current one, but is the aborted previous attempt done at the start of the year. In all honesty I'd be happy to see it removed from the list but Raptor's the boss, just be aware - voters - in case you were considering it as a possibility

Vaduz = Liechtenstein = Rest of Europe
Though, as I'm typing that, don't they play in Switzerland? If they do, they belong in the Western European category.

Im pretty certain I did that one, and added them as WEU? Switzerland is indeed in WEU and Vaduz play there, else they wouldnt be manageable |

FC Vaduz do play in Switzerland although they usually sneak into the UEFA Cup by way of the Liechtenstein Cup.
I'd go Western European only because of the league that they play in. (Most teams from Liechtenstein play in the Swiss pyramid, I think.)
