Yes - how cool is that. Jimbo, you need to give him the good news about your championship winning season.

Sorry for the delay. An abridged history of the period Nov 2005-Aug 2006, (as in depth as I can get it), will appear over the weekend and then I shall continue as normal.

Wales 1b.

November 2005.

Conference National. Home to Carlisle. Lost 1-0. Carlisle beat us man for man all over the pitch and we got what we deserved from the match. NOTHING . We only forced their keeper into 2 saves and even the normally reliable Jonathan Coates had a very quiet game.

Conference National. Home to Farnborough. Won 3-0. Goals, Carl Wilson-Denis (2), Scott Thyer. A much improved performance but they type that we really need to produce on a regular basis if we are going to progress in this league. Wilson-Denis and Thyer played well together up front and created numerous chances for eachother, with JAFFA edging the MOM contest.

Newport Co Res 0 QPR Res 2. Sent off, A Trialist.

Conference National. Away to Dagenham & Redridge. Won 1-0. Goals, Ramon Calliste. A decent if unspectacular away performance, and if I'm hones, a bit of a smash and grab win. Roger Freestone kept the home side at bay for long periods in a MOM performance.

Under 18's Cup, 3rd Round.
Newport Co U18's 0 Tottenham U18's 2.

Newport Co Res 1 Dag & Red Red 1. Goals, A Trialist.

Thu 10/11/2005.
Wales U19's 2 Hiungary U19's 1. No other information available.

Fri 11/11/2005.
Wales U21 1 Hungary U21's 2. No other information available.

Forest Green U18's 1 Newport Co U18's 3. Goals, Sam O'Sullivan (3) (hat-trick).

World Cup Qualifying, (Europe) Playoff Leg 1.

Wales 0 Greece 1.

Wales have left themselves with a lot to do after being defeated at home by a solitory goal. Due to a news blackout, I am unable to tell you who played where, or how, however I can tell you that Wales now find themselves with an uphill task if they are to turn this tie around in the 2nd leg, which is to be played in Greece on Wednesday.

Mon 14/11/2005.
Chinese Taipei U19's 1 Wales U19's 2. No other information available.

Tues 15/11/2005.
Chinese Taipei U21's 0 Wales U21's 0. No other information available.

Bristol C Res 4 Newport Co Res 1. Goals, Sam O'Sullivan.

World Cup Qualifying, (Europe) Playoff Leg 2.

Greece 0 Wales 3.

Wales overcame the odds and their Greece opponents as they overturned the first leg defecit and booked their place in Germany for next years World Cup. Once agin, due to a news blackout, I cannot bring you any further information at this time, and I very much doubt that if and when I do get to speak to any of the Welsh players, that I will be able to get much sense out of them. An historic day foe Welsh football .

Conference National. Home to Crawley. Won 2-1. Goals, Jonathan D'Laryea, Nathan Davies. A tight game that we just managed to edge after leadinf and then being pegged back. Jonathan Coates resuming normal service with another MOM performance after a couple of weeks of mediorcity.

Altrincham U18's 3 Newport Co U18's 1. Goals, Sam O'Sullivan.

Leyton Orient Res 1 Newport Co Res 2. Goals, A Trialist, Sam O'Sullivan.

Conference National. Away to Tamworth. Drew 1-1. Goals, Anthony Pulis. A goal conceded only 2 minutes from time meant that we couldn't increase our winning run to 4, but at least we we are unbeaten now in 4. Jonathan Coates again added the MOM prize to his collection. Ryan Shawcross played well at centre-back and young Alistair John added to gis growing reputation on the right wing.

Conference National. Away to Woking. Drew 2-2. Goals, Ramon Calliste, Alistair John. With 4 goals scored in the first 13 minutes, the modest crowd of 805 must have thought that they were in for a goal-fest. Unfortunately, that was the end of the scoring as Iraqi keeper, Schwan Jalal impressed in the Woking goal and Roger Freestone was protected sufficiently by a Newport back 4 led by a dominating performance from right back Stuart Jones.

Newport Co Res 0 Wycombe Res 3.

December 2005.

3/12/2005. 2 more players have joined the County ranks. Lee Lawrence is a 20 year old English left back who was a Man Utd trainee. 3 of the 4 players at the club who can play at left back are currently injured and he has been brought in to fill the gap. Mark Smyth is also 20 and also English. He was released by Liverpool and I jumped at the chance to sign him. He is a left sided forward who can also play in the middle.

Wed 7/12/2005
Oxford Res 2 Newport Co Res 1. Goals, Sam O'Sullivan.

Sat 10/12/2005.
Conference National. Home to Stevenage. Won 3-0. Goals, Jonathan D'Laryea, Joe Goodwin, John Phillips. Although it was a comfortable win, we should have scored more goals. The other areas of the team really excelled but the strikers only fired in fits and starts. Jaffa and Calliste only managed 3 shots on target between them before they were withdrawn on 66 minutes. Their replacements Godwin and Phillips fared slightly better, (4 out of 5 shots on target), and they both grabbed a goal. Still.3 nil is 3 nil, (can't complain ), and we are now unbeaten in 6.

Sun 11/12/2005.
Newport Co U18's 2 Torquay U18's 0. Goals, Sam O'Sullivan (2).

Wed 14/12/2005.
Newport Co Res 1 Millwall Res 2. Goals Scott Thyer.

Sat 17/12/2005.
Conference National. Home to Scarborough. Drew 1-1. Goals, Ramon Calliste. Another game we should have won. we are creating loads of chances every game , but are just not putting them away :thdn:. Jonathan Coates picked up another MOM award, but what I would do for a striker who wasn't very good, but knew how to stick the ball in the onion bag. My forwards are playing well and contributing to the team cause, but they are not doing what they are paid for.......... score goals .

Tues 20/12/2005.
Conference National. Away to Hereford. Won 2-1. Goals, Joe Goodwin, Carl Wilson-Denis (pen). 8 games without defeat is pleasing enough, but an away win without Jonathan Coates at left wing was especially pleasing. 19 year old Joe Goodwin filled in on the left in a change to his usual position up front and performed with enough composure to be awarded the MOM award. Lee Phillips performed very well at centre-back, but it was Goodwin that stole the show.

Wed 21/12/2005.
Newport Co Res 1 Swindon Res 2. Goals, Sam O'Sullivan.

Mon 26/12/2005.
Conference National. Home to Accrington. Won 2-0. Goals, Carl Wilson-Denis, Ramon Calliste. This was a very even game and one that Accrington really deserved something from. Simon Gray had to be on form to keep a clean sheet and only the grafting of Jonathan D'Laryea in the middle kept our heads above water at times in a quite remarkable performance that deservedly won him the MOM award. Jonathan made 29/35 passes including 5 key passes, 7/8 tackles, 5/6 headers, 4 interceptions, and went on 2 rampaging runs. Probably the finest individual performance by a player during my time in charge. It was not a 1 man show though as Jonathan Coates, Alistair John and Anthony Pulis all had strong defensive games to turn the tide. That's 9 without a loss now .

Wed 28/12/2005.
Newport Co Res 0 Aldershot Res 2.

Wed 28/12/2005.
Conference National. Away to Hornchurch. Lost 3-0. Crash back down to Earth we came with a thump after our little period of invincibility . 3-0 wasn't a fair reflection on the game as it was a tight affair from start to finish. I started with Adam Birchall up front but after he failed to even miss the target in the first half , he was replaced by Calliste who didn't have much more success. What a way to end the year. Best to just forget about this one I think.
