Good start bartley and you seem to be enjoying it, plus the feedback has been good also.

Is Spav getting a game at the moment?

1st September

Nuneaton Borough 1 - 3 FMS

The winning streak continued for the FMS boys as their trip to Nuneaton proved fruitful. The misfiring Binny had not shown the form he had promised early season and missed hatfuls of chances before half time. Luckily for him, his trike partner Flippers was on hand to poke home a Furnivall cross. These were FMS' two in form players at the moment and they heart and soul of the team at this stage.

Nuneaton fought back, and on the stroke of half time, a Spav back pass proved the perfect ball for the oncoming opposition striker and he weighted a perfect lob over the leaping Dark Soccer

Half time appeared to have put a spring into the step of the players. Wrangle and Bagpuss reigned in countless crosses and through balls and Binny was always on the end of them. Unfortuneatly, he couldn't find the finish and was substituted on the hour after Brian of Nazereth had ventured up from left back to win a corner. That man Furnivall whipped in a beauty, and just seconds after coming on, Raptor volleyed in a scorcher from the edge of the area after the ball had balooned out from the cross. It was a terrific debut goal and it proved to be crucial.

Nuneaton never really recovered and when Bagpuss broke out of the defence with the ball in the 90th minute and curled the ball neatly into the top corner from 30 yards out, the home side had little or no fight left in them.

Comfortable in the end for the Gronigen lads at the top of English non-league ladder, but it took an old dutchman to pull them through. With a little help from a goalpost.

3rd September

FMS 3 - 0 Woking

2 days after the victory in Nuneaton, the lads hotfooted back to the Homage to take on suprise high fliers Woking.

The first half was end to end stuff. 5 shots on target each for the teams in the first half, but neither could break the deadlock. The out of form Binny missed 4 of those chances for FMS, one of which was a mere 8 yards out. The other chance went to Spav from a Wrangle corner. His header crept over the bar.

In the second half, BobBev had better luck his header from a Wrangle corner. From the penalty spot, he powered a downward header into the far corner after 51 minutes.

His goal inspired confidence in the rest of the side and after Binny finally re discovered his goal scoring touch with a 2 yard tap in from yet another low Furnivall cross. With 5 minutes to go, Flippers wouldn't be out done, as he caressed a carefully placed shot from the edge of the area nestled in the near corner.

A good result for the lads and it was nice to see Binny find the net for the first time in a very long time.

i think all who were at the edinburgh 2002 meet-up will agree that my crossing ability in this game is somewhat unrealistic. absolutely loving it though \o/

You know that PM is just going to find some way of shutting this down soon, he just won't be able to cope with the mighty 6'3" frame of yours truly continually banging them in from all over

8th September

Telford 2 - 3 FMS

Just 8 days into the month and FMS were already playing their 3rd game of September. This one was a trip to New Bucks Head for what turned out to be a thriller. The now settled side played the same starting 11 they had for all of the matches so far this season, even the struggling Binny. He would pay his manager back for his faith in style today.

The home side pegged back the Conference leaders early on with both strikers coming close on the half hour. In the third minute of first half injury time, Peter Smith fired a sensational volley into the bottom corner to leave the visitors deflated and stunned going into the changing rooms at the break.

The second half appeared to have more of the same in store, with that man Smith getting on the end of a cross from the right to double the home sides advantage after 47 minutes.

And then - the comeback. On 54 minutes Faramir replaced the struggling Manson and completly revitilised his side. FMS piled on the pressure on their opponents with almost every move instigated by Faramir. Fellow substitute Raptor came close, but just 9 minutes after coming on, Faramir cut in from the left and accidentely lobbed the keeper from 20 yards with an attempted cross. Of course after the game he claimed it was completely intentionel, but we all knew the truth.

Now matter how it came however, it meant that FMs were back in it. The pressure absolutely piled upon the home team who were clinging onto their lead by their finger nails. They held out until the 86th minute, when a suprisingly quiet Flippers whipped oin his 7th corner of the match and Spav climbed above the rest to power a downward header into the corner of the net and FMS had equalised.

But they were not finished yet. Binny had missed 2 or 3 excellent chances, but this was to be the one that counted. A Telford attack was hoofed off the line by Bagpuss and Binny was onto it like a flash. He had only the keeper to beat and put his previous misfortunes behind him by calmly slotting the ball into the far corner in the 93rd minute. A classic victory for the league leaders and it kept up their unbeaten run to 5 games on the trot. Safe to say, it was looking good.

DW - I'd have to agree m8

Simon - Don't about irl, but in my little Cm world your up with the Giggs' of this world as far as crossing ability goes

Flippers - lets hope he doesn't and that your scoring never ends

BoN - Anyone who didn't give where they would like to play is either SC, MRLC or DRLC and you became a defender
