Ausgust - December 2014

Regaining a Premiership spot was of course the top priority for the club. After having spent far too long in the Championship/First Division, last season had been a huge anti-climax on the return to the top flight. With Clough back in charge though, and having shown that he still seemed to have that old magic touch, there was a growing air of confidence amongst the Forest support.

Pre season though was nothing to write home about. Although Clough's side were unbeaten, four 1-1 draws and three 1-0 wins had given the fans little to get excited about, although the 1-0 triumph over Dortmund had been the highlight of the summer, apart from the arrival of Clough of course. The season itself got off to a pretty unspectacular start, with a 0-0 home draw against Sheffield United. Wins over Crystal Palace and Portsmouth settled the nerves, before another nil all home draw, this time with Sunderland.

It was clear Forest werent going to have an easy ride. The results were being ground out, and by the end of October only two league matches had been lost, to Wigan by 1-0 and to Hull by 2-0. The 4th round of the League Cup was also reached, and a match with Premiership strugglers Wolves. On the day though it was to prove to much as Forest went down by 2-0.

The year was to end rather flat. A defeat at Burnley at the end of November, was followed by wins over Ipswich (2-0) and Rotherham (2-1), before a 2-1 loss at Sheffield United was followed by 1-1 draws with Palace and Portsmouth. Those results saw Forest slip to fifth place with just over half the season gone. There was still a great chance to go up, but it would require a little bit more consistancy.
