I was playing last night and having just won the league with 2 games spare decided to field a team of youngsters/fringe players and it got me thinking about player interaction.
At the moment it is very static, whatever the situation the choices are all the same, whether praising the player or in team talks.
If a player suddenly has a blinder of a game but previously was only getting 6's eg 6-6-6-6-9, i want to be able to comment on that particular performance, not just say he's performing above/under par, whichever of those that i say won't go down well.
So first up, i wan to be able to comment on an individual performance or his form at the momemnt you can only comment on form.
Second, If a players contract is coming to an end or he has just signed a new one, i want to be able to point that out as a comment
eg Prove to me that your worthy of a new contract or Go out and justify your new contract. And you could have something similar for youth players eg Prove you good enough for First Team football.
Basically what im saying is the comments don't necessarially relate to the players situation, with loads of scenarios such as mentioned above plus, players comming back from injuries, long term bans, a dip in form, personal problems, interest from other clubs, even if you have just offered his services to other clubs.
They could all do with individual comments towards the player, anyone else agree/disagree? Or got anything to add?

My 10 cents on Player Interaction/Team Talks Post #2
The whole player interaction/team talk thing still feels like a lottery to me. It's the ambiguity I don't like. Sometimes I want to tell my players not to get careless at half-time, but I don't honestly know whether I'm saying just that, or whether the players take it as 'I don't trust you lot not to go and screw this up so being effing careful out there!' And that's just an example.

The suggestions you made occurred to me too, I've taken over a lower league club and would love to be able to tell my players that they're playing for new contracts for next year. I think the player interaction idea is a good one, but needs a complete overhaul for the next version, team talks especially.

Exactly, in the lower leagues, contracts are only for one season, so you need to be able to remind them that if they don't perform that season they're contract will expire and won't be renewed. And chances are if they don't perform well for you they'll drop down a league and have to be paid less.

My 10 cents on Player Interaction/Team Talks Post #6
My initial reaction is that the comments that are available are to some extent sufficient and that this is a computer game. I would like a game that runs relatively smoothly rather than to be able to say to "Nice curtains" to Duncan Horsemouth.

Im not saying i want to say loads of random irrelevant things, but it just feels that you keep saying the same thing over and over again regardless of the circumstances.

I agree completely. The more ways to interact with the AI the better as far as I'm concerned.
If duncan horsemouth HAS nice curtains, I'd like to be able to tell him that, if it'll improve his performances on the pitch. You would in real life wouldn't you?
