Basically, if you don't wanna read the link, an annual tournament is starting next year which will involve 2 MLS teams, an A-League team and A J-League team, and eventually a Mexican league team. Although the actual format is yet to be announced, I think that this competition should be looked into for future patches, or at least FM09. The only I logistical problem I see with it is the fact that the J-league isn't in the game... thoughts?

They need to have time to code in the tourney format and stuff. Plus the tournament hasn't officially been announced, but that is expected in the next few weeks.
