Default Daylight Robbery by SI

As a player of CM/FM since the very first version on the Amiga, FM08 is my last. The disc has been snapped and binned due to the fact that as a casual gamer and a full time worker i do not have the time required to sit the coaching badges required to play this game.

Whilst i expect a game to have a level of difficulty in it to keep gamers interested the way FM08 plays it is just not possible to enjoy in anyway shape or form.

Why should we have to come on a website to find out how the tactics work? Why do we have to play some stupid formation just to get a win comsidering most RL teams play 4-4-2? Why do we have to completely revamp a tactic because the AI finds a way to break our existing one down? Of course Ferguson and Wenger do this all the time they play 4-4-2 but come xmas when the FA applys a reranking they switch to 4-2-3-1 just so Derby cant beat them 6-0 at home.

So onto daylight robbery from SI. I cant find anywhere on the game case that says "Not for the casual gamer" "IQ in the range of Stephen Hawkin required to play this game" It does for the ages of 3+ well all i can say is there must be some pretty smart 3 year olds on the testing team at SI.

It does say on the box "Experiance the greatest job on earth" I take it that translates to here is a game you probably wont be able to play and enjoy but thanks for the 30 quid suckers. P.S. by the time the last patch comes out to fix the errors please download our demo for FM09 at the same time.

This is not a post for you to respond to with the likes of you need to tweak your tactics or get better players and such. This is me venting my frustrations once and for all and moving on with a FM free life from now on.

Game Over

Here we go again...

I've been playing this game since 1947 when we had to send our tactics in via Morse Code to the SI headquarters in Saigon. But this version is the worst SUPAKEEPAZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. And you're an idiot if you disagree, which is ironic because i just said that only smart people can understand the game to begin with. I'm never coming back here again, except to post a couple times a day for the next couple months.

Do you? I play LLM and I've never relied on someone elses tips or tactics. Of course, it takes me decades to get my piddly teams all the way from the Blue Square to the Champions League, because I'm probably, likely, heck, certainly not using the players at my disposal in the most efficient way.

Yet, with patience and attention to detail you can get all the way to the top.

I strongly suspect that most people who are so frustrated about the game are not able to find succes immediately or almost immediately with their favorite Prem team.

Easy recipe to find back the fun in your jaded FM existance:

Start with a crap team. Expect them to do crap. See them doing crap. Then start seeing the results of your meddling. Slowly make your way to a higher league, eventually. Most importantly: do not expect succes, at least not within the first few seasons. After that, expect moderate succes with unsuccesful interludes.

I do it that way and I've not encountered any 'supakeepaz' (my forwards are well able to miss the chances themselves) or 'closing down bug' (because the players at my level could not close down a stationary cow, let alone a moving person).

I think that's all that needs to be said about your intelligence and thus credibility.

He has a very good point though, what kind of realistic management game uses "reranking"?

DJ, you are my hero.

I can't help but notice that the only people who complain as so consistently and aggressively are the people who can't seem to make Barcelona or Arsenal win everything every year with no effort.

This is a management simulation game. it's got plenty of issues and problems but at least some can be corrected with how you approach the game. they've built it in that you have to be a little savvy with the tactics.

otherwise it would be a "pick a starting XI and win" game.
