why is there always this hostility aimed towards those who are clearly very frustrated with the game? i appreciate that they're not always terribly polite in the way they voice their views but frankly i don't understand why people feel the need to resort to insults to defend SI.
a) Why do 'bashers' only react to people who 'counter-bash'? I have posted several mild answers and suggestions over the last while and the level of response I get is just about nil - it's as if the 'bashers' are aiming to get into fights and willfully ignore someone who they can't get into a fight with.
b) Why is it necessary to 'bash' anyway? When has that ever achieved anything? Constructive criticism and carefully explained perceived shortcomings of the game would help SI making improvements. Venting (for which I have only limited patience. Are you such slaves to your emotions? Can't you take disappointment without flying into a rage? Get a grip.) is useless and damn annoying.
c) Why is it necessary for 'bashers' to act as if they know every in and out of the game, the testing process, SI's programming aptitude, business-model and -morals, flinging ill-thought-through accusations all over the board? Most of those remarks, if not all of them, are simply untrue or wild guessing at best. No wonder 'fanboys', certainly those of the less well-spoken kind, resort to insults to vent (grrrr...) their frustration with these clueless posts.
This is a management simulation game. it's got plenty of issues and problems but at least some can be corrected with how you approach the game. they've built it in that you have to be a little savvy with the tactics.
otherwise it would be a "pick a starting XI and win" game.
it might be a simulation, but I just can't figure it out, why there is no real time in this game. 60 seconds IRE = 60 sec in FM, but it's not....
i resent being referred to as a 'basher'. perhaps you ought to re-read my post as i wasn't particularly critical of SI, even reiterating my rather masochistic enjoyment of FM08.
the reason you're not getting responses is because the vast majority of the people who come on here to share their frustrations do so with the intention of getting it off their chest rather than engaging in constructive debate.
i think people have every right to vent. £25 and upwards is a significant amount of money to some people - myself included - so why shouldn't they be allowed to express their discontent on these forums simply because you think it's "useless" and "damn annoying". i'd suggest that some of the posts are far from useless, many i've read have contained very constructive and detailed reasons for their disappointment and it's important for SI to learn from these posts and make improvements accordingly as they see fit. right now, the series is in danger of becoming a 'micro-management' simulation which will not appeal to everyone; the beauty of previous incarnations has been the flexibility with which you can play - if you wanted an easy ride or a long-term challenge then you
...could make that choice yourself. this decision has been taking out of the hands of those with limited time to play the game, there is not such variety in difficulty levels and unless you're prepared to invest considerable time and effort, it can be frustrating.
your point regarding 'bashers' - or rather critics - behaving as though they have an all-encompassing knowledge of the game applies equally to those who defend the game. i'm not sure whether the logic you're using to condone the insults is hypocritical or not, are you being ironic?

Perhaps because when some of us bought it, we knew that, in the time honoured tradition, SI would release a patch to fix things. "Don't worry, the patch will sort it" as usual.

So we have to change our approuch to make sure the problems and issues don't ruin the fun?
So you can't play this game as you would like to, because you need to take the problems into account and change to make sure you don't experience any issues..
I really hope I'm not understanding you right =)
One point he does make tha I agree with is about the tactics, there never has been a full explanation of what they do and what would happen selecting each tick box all we have is opinions from guys and in the tactics forum and a manuel which doesnt really scratch the surface.
