This tactic is based around how Spalletti's Roma players with no striker up front. This tactic will not guarantee that you will win everything, even if you are managing a top team. It won't guarantee that the opposition will never score or any other outlandish guarantees that other tactic makers might promise. This tactic needs to be adjusted according to the team you are playing and whether you are away or at home. The tactics that claim that no adjusted is needed for away or at home seems completely unrealistic as no team players the same for all away and home games. If the opposition is strong, it might be best to take the run arrows away from the full-backs. This tactic is not 'complete' in the sense that no tactic is complete if the game is to be realistic and I encourage everyone who tries it to make changes that they think are necessary and post any suggestions or comments they might have.
I think this tactic does solve the issue of players taking too many long shots and I've found that it creates more clear cut chances that your players will take advantage of.
The deep lying striker should always be in line with the weaker of the two centre backs and that is a centre back with poor positioning and decisions. You should find that since this player is making runs from midfield, the centre back will be dragged all over the place and find himself completely out of position and should all you player, once he has moved into the strikers position, to have many one-on-ones. This works best with a striker who can play attacking midfield and has good acceleration and pace. Tevez would be an obvious example.
I've only used this tactic for Barcelona so I don't know how it would work for a lesser team.

Champions League Final (v Juventus)
Result: 2-0
Shots: 14 (8 on target)
Possession: 58%
Passing: 78%
Juventus: 8 (2 on target)
Against lesser teams, I do tend to dominate and get around 2-4 goals. This tactic sometimes does struggle against teams that play the passing game such as Man Utd and Arsenal. I beat Arsenal 4-1 in the semis but that does not reflect the fact that I was very lucky away and somewhat lucky at home.
