WTF!! OMFG!!! It's all going wrong LOLZ!! : Gretna players press self destruct button
Yip after a pretty damm good start to the season, we assumed we had already won the league/Scottish cup/CIS cup/Challenge cup.
Now we find ourselfs out of the CIS cup and the challenge cup and trailing league leaders Partick Thistle by 3 points having played a game more than them.
Here's a look at our chaotic run of results recently:
Tuesday 21st August 2007: Hamilton v Gretna : CIS Cup 2nd Round: 1-1 draw, Hamilton win on penalties
We found ourselves looking to advance in the first major cup competition of the season and hopefully make it into the third round and get a draw with one of the big clubs (Ok ok we wanted the only big club in Scoltand......Celtic) and it would appear that my good for nothing players had Celtic on their minds instead of Hamilton and oh they let me and themselves down

Things had started ohhhh so brightly as we looked lively as we got in and about the Accies defence finally puncturing it in the 39th minute as Kenny Deuchar slammed the ball home from close range.
In the second half it was more of the same please , we pushed forward while Hamilton appears to be compeletly over-whelmed by us

However in one of their rare breaks forward Hamilton somehow managed to find the the net , a thunderous shot my their player cracked off the head of Andy Aitken, who was left a litle dazed such was the power of the shot, and flew into the top corner, Hamilton players were stunned, Gretna players were stunned, both sets of fans were stunned, me? I just cried.
We created more chances in the 90mins but couldn't finish one of them off, same again in extra time, so the match went to penalties!
Alex Neil stepped up to put Hamiltion ahead in the shootout.
Kenny Deuchar missed Gretna's first

Paul McLeod kept the Accies in pole position as converted their second spot kick.
John Sutton kept Gretna's hopes alive as he scored their second penalty.
A ray of hope! Steven Thomson missed for Hamilton.
Hope gone! David Graham misses for the Black and Whites.
Pat Keogh put Hamilton 3-1 ahead with his kick.
Gabor Zavadszky had to score to keep Gretna in with a chance............he didn't
Saturday 25th August 2007 : Clyde v Gretna : Bell's League Division One: 1-1 draw
We were looking to bounce back after the disappointment of our CIS cup exit and what better way to cheer everyone associated with the football club up than with 3 points?
After quite possibly the dullest first half in the history of the game, both teams found themselves in with a shout of claiming all the points and things looked really good for us when in the 69th minute John Sutton fired us into the lead, Clyde then laided seige to our 18yard box and even though we didn't really it to happen it was no surprise when Bryan Prunty pulled the tie level in the 84th minute.
Rubbish really
Tuesday 28th August 2007: Partick Thistle v Gretna: Bell's Scottish League Challenge Cup 2nd Round: 4-1 <STRIKE>hammering</STRIKE>loss
This game summed up our performances over recent games, we lacked passion, commitment, the will to win, and whenever we did mount a challenge it was always going to be far too little far too late.
Markus Paatelainen opened the scoring in the 17th minute, and to be honest with you there was only one team that looked like scoring for the rest of the match, they weren't wearing black and white either

The second half started much as the first half had ended with Thislte enjoying most of the ball and chances to go with it

No surprises then when in the 74th minute Willie McLaren put them even futher ahead with his close range header, 4 minutes later Stevie Docherty increased the heartache for Gretna as he found the net, Thistle were in danger of running riot in the last 12 or so minutes!
Then we switched into too little too late mode as we decided
now was the time to make a game of it!
John Sutton pulled one back in the 86th minute but it was nothing to get excited about and Stevie Docherty pounded again in the 88th minute to compound our misery
Friday 7th September 2007: Gretna v Morton: Bell's League Division One: 2-2 draw
Still searching for the ellusive win, and we didn't find it here

Stephen O'Donnell opened the scoring for the ton in the 9th minute and things went from bad to worse as Chris Templeman doubled the advantage in the 22nd minute. John Sutton pulled one back in the 29th minute and that was that up until half time.
Second half my players looked more up for it and the more likely side to get a goal, they kept the fans hanging on till the death though before Piotr Wisniewski pulled us back into the game with an 88th minute strike \o/
Still another 2 points dropped
Sunday 16th September 2007: Partick v Gretna: Bell's League Division One: 3-0 humping
What can you say eh?
You think I hated Forfar?
Not anymore that were pussycats compared to this Thistle mob, every season I've been a Gretna they have been there to throw a big assed spanner in the works, they beat us to the second division title in my first season in charge, they took at least 9points off us last season (it might have been all 12) and I've lost to them everytime we've met this season.
I hate Partick Thistle
A tightly contested first half could have saw either team go in at half time in the lead, but as usual the breaks fell for Partick and they took a 1-0 lead in at the break thanks to Markus Paatelainen goal right on the stroke of half time.
In they second half Thistle simply stepped up a gear and blew my lot away (again)

Paatelainen was on target again in the 64th minute, before John McGoldrick tied up the points in the 75th minute.
We did we offer up in way of resistance if the second half?
Nothing.
Saturday 22nd September 2007: Livingston v Gretna: Bell's League Division One: 2-2 draw
Same old same old here, we give a team a two goal start, then we decide its time to make a game of things, Conal Platt opened the scoring for Livi in the 11th minute, Paul "thank god your not as good as your old man" Dalglish added the second in the 34th minute.
Livi were unlucky not to a third to their haul before half time.
Second half was a different Gretna side as they pushed and probed in an attempt to find their way back into the match, we got the break our second half play deserved through Gabor Zavadszky in the 56th minute and pulled ourselves level in the 79th minute through Rajabu Pambu-Muller.
Still another 2 points dropped, at times I wonder what the hell I am doing here.
Saturday 29th Sepetmeber 2007: Gretna v Hamilton: Bell's League Division One: 3-1 win \o/
Gretna players in playing to their full potential shock!
We pulled off the result that on paper would have been expected of us, but with the way we have been playing recently no one could have been too shocked if we had lost 10-0.
A blistering spell in the last 14mins of the first half saw Gretna storm into a 3-0 lead through goals from John Sutton (31mins), Alexis Pittas (37mins) and Kenny Deuchar (45mins).
Willie John Kiely pulled one back for Hamilton in the 64th minute but the result was never really in any doubt.
Thats for knocking us out of the CIS cup bitches
After this shocking run of form the First Division table now looks like this:
<pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre">Holders - Hibernian| Pos | Inf | Team | | Pld | Won | Drn | Lst | For | Ag | G.D. | Pts | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 1st | | Partick | | 7 | 5 | 1 | 1 | 13 | 4 | +9 | 16 | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 2nd | | Gretna | | 8 | 3 | 4 | 1 | 14 | 13 | +1 | 13 | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 3rd | | Ross County | | 7 | 3 | 2 | 2 | 19 | 12 | +7 | 11 | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 4th | | Livingston | | 8 | 3 | 2 | 3 | 9 | 11 | -2 | 11 | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 5th | | Airdrie Utd | | 8 | 3 | 1 | 4 | 11 | 11 | 0 | 10 | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 6th | | Hamilton | | 8 | 3 | 1 | 4 | 12 | 15 | -3 | 10 | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 7th | | Dundee | | 7 | 2 | 3 | 2 | 9 | 8 | +1 | 9 | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 8th | | Morton | | 8 | 2 | 3 | 3 | 7 | 12 | -5 | 9 | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 9th | | Clyde | | 8 | 0 | 6 | 2 | 8 | 11 | -3 | 6 | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 10th | | St. Mirren | | 7 | 1 | 3 | 3 | 6 | 11 | -5 | 6 | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| </pre>
Surely we can't get any worse right?
