Eagles Fly High
A good start to the season with Palace now on a run of three successive wins! Can the form be continued through September?

A cracking game which was full of excitement for both sets of fans, Liverpool took the early lead through Gaspard only for Sandor Torhelle to equalise 10 minutes later, Zenden then regained the advantage for the scouses 3 minutes after that and the scoreline remained at 2-1 to the break. Marius Johnsen grabbed the second equaliser in the second half, and that was how the scoreline remained. Sandor Torghelle picked up the Man of the Match award for his wonderfully crafted performance goal and excellent all round performance.

Away at the City of Manchester Stadium, and a very close run and defensive game. Neither side were able to break the deadlock in the first half, and it took a penalty from Freddy Grisales in the second to settle the game in Palace’s favour. The penalty conversion was sufficient for Grisales to earn the Man of the Match champagne and send the Palace fans back to south London with a smile on their faces
Man City 0 Crystal Palace 1
Palace Scorers : Grisales (Pen 74)
Attendance : 47372

Paul Rouch took the brace decision to field a weakened eleven for this cup match against lower division opposition, and it nearly backfired spectacularly! Preston nearly took the lead on the half hour when a penalty was awarded but Asper saved the effort at goal! Palace failed to take nmotice of the warning however and 10 minutes later Patrick Agmeyang had put the visitors ahead which Preston hung on to until the break. Some harsh words must have been said at half time because palace came out for the second half looking very focussed and Paul Rouch marched to the dug out with the angriest scowl I’ve seen all season! The equaliser had a touch of fortune about it as it bounced off the Preston Midfielder Nathan Dyer’s arse and into the net! Preston looked mortified that the hard work that had gone into securing the lead was now wiped out. Man of the Match Tom Soares put Palace ahead with an absolute peach of a goal, and then David Bentley finally secured the win with the third goal just before the whistle
Crystal Palace 3 Preston 1
Palace Scorers : Dyer (OG 59) Soares (76) Bentley (89)
Preston Scorers : Agmeyang (39)
Attendance : 9030

On an unbeaten run of 6 games now Palace were feeling confident that they could get something out of this one, but Chelsea soon gave the home side reason to doubt their confidence when wonderkid, Moutinho fired the blues ahead after only 3 minutes. It was a very bitter blow and one that the Eagles were unable to recover from, despite putting Chelsea under intense pressure through out the remainder of the match.
Crystal Palace 0 Chelsea 1
Chelsea Scorer : Moutinho (3)
Attendance : 22753
MOM : Arjen Robben (Chelsea)
Palace are sitting 6th and are currently matching their managers bold preseason prediction of a European placed finish and have progressed past their first opposition in the cups. Can this continue? Stay tuned to find out…….
