A new season approaches and as ever the Crystal Palace manager is approaching it with unrealistic optimism and is even suggesting during an interview for Soccer AM, that he is targeting a European spot! Time will tell if this foolhardy target becomes a burden or a mad reality!! 13th August 2007[/b]
Opening day at a reduced capacity Selhurst park, due to the planned stadium extension, and the first game of the season is against Spurs. Mini Judas C*ntface opens the scoring for the visitors after just 8 minutes and although Sandor Torghell levelled midway through the first half, the home side still traipsed in trainling at the break after Michael Dawson restored the visitors lead just before the whistle. Despite a valiant effort in the second half Palace were unable to claw their way back and had to start the season with a sour taste of defeat Crystal Palace 1 Spurs 2
Palace Scorers : Torghelle (22)
Spurs Scorers : Mini Judas C*ntface (8) Dawson (45)
Attendance : 22771
MOM : Mini Judas C*ntface (Spurs) 18th August 2007[/b]
Fellow EFB manager Rob Perry and his Blades were the next opponents and Palace were not going to dwell on their opening day defeat! A poor start from both sides, which got worse for the Blades when Mark Wilson was dismissed from the field of play after just over 20 minutes! Sasha Iakovenko quickly turned the numerical advantage into a goal which sent the Eagles in to the break one up . The second half was tightly fought and Rouch must have feared the worst when Saha equalised for Sheffield United just past the hour, but within 10 minutes his smile had returned after Sandor Torghelle grabbed his second of the season to restore the lead, which Palace retained to snatch their first win of the season and Castrillon picked up the man of the match award for his great contribution from midfield Sheff Utd 1 Crystal Palace 2
Palace Scorers : Iakovenko (28) Torghelle (71)
Sheff Utd Scorers : Saha (62)
Attendance : 23440
MOM : Castrillon (Palace) 22nd August 2007[/b]
Back to Selhurst Park and Leeds are the visitors this time, but Palace are in no mood to leave any doubt in this game! Sasha Iakovenko opens the scoring mid way through the first half to give Palace the half time lead. Leeds didn’t help their cause when Arneng put one in the back of his own net to double the Palace’s advantage. Trejo then added the third to round off a great performance from the home side, and although Sandor Torghelle didn’t get on the score sheet his contribution was recognised with the Man of the match award going to him  Crystal Palace 3 Leeds 0
Palace Scorers : Iakovenko (21) Arneng (OG 82) Trejo (87)
Attendance : 22767
MOM : Sandor Torghelle (Palace) 25th August 2007[/b]
Tough trip to St James’s park made to look easy when Oscar trejo struck a thunderous volley in the onion bag after just 2 minutes of play! On loan defender Pique got himself sent off in the 16th minute to threaten the early good work. Newcastle turned the screw and came close a couple of times, but Gabor Kiraly pulled off some important saves to ensure Palace held on to the lead, and late in the second half AJU gave the team some valuable breathing space when he scored his first goal of the season to put Palace 2-0 up. Newcastle visibly slumped after this hammer blow and were unable to recover despite home and numerical advantage. Gabor Kiraly was deservbedly awarded the Mano f the match champagne as he kept Palace in the game. Newcastle 0 Crystal Palace 2
Palace Scorers : Trejo (2) Johnson (78)
Attendance : 50928
MOM : Kiraly (Palace)
A good start to the season as Palace win three games in succession o put the opening day defeat out of their minds and climb the table toward the top 6 position that the manager Paul Rouch covets ;cool:

Rep Power: 10 | The Hatters Herald - Luton start strong!!!!
It can only be described as a dream start to the season for Luton and manager Andrew Hepburn. The month of August has been brilliant for Luton and they find themselves sitting in 4th place in the table. The new signings have done ever so well, Steve Lovell in particular and everything right now is going well. Here is a run down of the opening games in the Hatters season so far...... Championship
Southampton v Luton - (A) Sat 4th August 2007
What tough openeer this was for the Hatters as they travelled to the south coast to face promotion favourites Southampton. It turned out to be a fantasic performance from Luton as they showed they can be more than a match for anyone in this league on this showing. Everyone of them played to their levels, yes they rode their luck at times but Hepburn is a firm believer of making your own luck. Both teams had their chances throughout but Luton took theirs and Southampton never. Steve Howrad got the ball rolling for Luton with a goal just before half time and then in the second half further goals from new signing David Dunn and then Kenny Lunt with a third ensured a superb victory for Luton. What a way to start the new season. Final Score - Southampton 0 v 3 Luton Goals - Luton - Howard (42), Dunn (51), Lunt (69) Att - 19326 MOTM - David Dunn (Luton) Championship
Cardiff v Luton - (A) Tues 7th August 2007
After a brilliant start at Southampton, Luton again were on their travels to Cardiff and they knew they were in for another tough game. It was another open game of football that either side could have won but again Luton took their chances and never really gave Cardiff a real opportunity to open up the defence. The defence and goalkeeper were solid as rocks, in particular youngster Leon Barnett, who was making his first start for Luton this season. In form Steve Howard got them off to a great start as he put them ahead in twenty one minutes. Leon Barnett made it 2-0 from the penalty spot to cap off a brilliant display from the youngster that saw him named man of the match. Another determined performance from Luton and it was now two wins out of two for the Hatters. Final Score - Cardiff 0 v 2 Luton Goals - Luton - Howard (21), Barnett (pen,62) Att - 14390 MOTM - Leon Barnett (Luton) Championship
Luton v Hull - (H) Sat 11th August 2007
This was Luton's third game in a week and it showed in their performance. The high level of energy was not their to see during this performance and Hull made it really difficult for them as they pressed and pressed all over the pitch not giving Luton an inch of pace to play in. Hull were the better team and should have taken home the points but Luton held on to snatch a draw. Against the run of play Luton took the lead through Zico tumba who tapped the ball home from about two yards. Even the introduction of Dean Morgan could not get the rest of the team fired up and Hull continued to dominate in the second half and deservedly got an equaliser through Ben Burgess. Luton had only had one other real chance that Morgan blew due to lack of match practice but Hull will feel this game should have been won by them. Final Score - Luton 1 v 1 Hull Goals - Luton - Tumba (32) Goals - Hull - Burgess (58) Att - 10486 MOTM - Ben Burgess (Hull) Championship
Luton v Plymouth - (H) Sat 18th August 2007
What a difference a week's rest makes to this Luton side. They were back to their brilliant best against Plymouth. The high energy was back and Plymouth could nothing to stop Luton attacking at will. It all started so well for Plymouth who went ahead after only eight minutes but Luton were merely getting into their stride at this point. They hit back in twenty one minutes when Dean Morgan scored his first goal in the Championship to level things. Luton had to wait till the second half to go ahead and the goal was messy but Plymouth player Paul Connelly put the ball in his own net. Substitute Zico Tumba made it 3-1 to Luton and the points were safe. Final Score - Luton 3 v 1 Plymouth Goals - Luton - Morgan (21), Connelly (og,50), Tumba (79) Goals - Plymouth - Dickson (8) Att - 10474 MOTM - Dean Morgan (Luton) Carling Cup 1st Round
Luton v Swansea - (H) Wed 22nd August 2007
Having beaten Swansea so easily at the end of last season, the Luton fans were expecting a goal fest at the Kenil as they entertained Swansea in the Carling Cup. Swansea however had other ideas and came with a game plan to hit on the break and it worked wonders for them as they picked Luton off time and time again at the start of the match and went ahead on fourteen minutes as a result. Thankfully new signing Steve Lovell, making is debut grabbed an equaliser almost immediately to the relief of the fans. Swansea were still playing extremely well on the break and Luton struggled to cope with it. Hepburn changed the tactics in the second half and Luton finally managed to get a foothold on the game and really started to dominate. It looked as if Swansea were going to hold out for extra time but Luton were awarded a penlaty with only three minutes to go and Leon Barnett scored to take Luton through to round two. Final Score - Luton 2 v 1 Swansea Goals - Luton - Lovell (18), Barnett (pen,87) Goals - Swansea - Kazubowski (14) Att - 5020 MOTM - Steve Lovell (Luton) Championship
Millwall v Luton - (A) Sat 25th August 2007
How Luton won this game I will never know. they were under pressure for large portions of the game but still managed to come away with three important points. Millwall seemingly just could not hit the target. When they did Beckwith was like a brick wall in the Luton goal as he put in a hellva performance that was capped with the man of the match award. Two second half goals from Dean Morgan and Zico Tumba were enough to give Luton the three points but Millwall will be left kicking themselves as to why they did not manage at least apoint from this game. Final Score - Millwall 0 v 2 Luton Goals - Luton - Tumba (64), Morgan (90) Att - 13362 MOTM - Robert Beckwith (Luton) Championship
Luton v Wolves - (H) Mon 27th August 2007
It was a top of the table battle as Sandy Pettigrew's high flying, huge spending Wolves came to the Kenil. It was a game Wolves dominated such was the talent amongst their ranks. Luton had to hang on for periods but real class shone through in the end. Even with ten men Wolves looked really good and it will take a lot to stop this team winning the title at the end of the season. Ex Wolves player Steve Lovell showed his old manager what a loss he might be as scored both of Luton's goals but it was not enough to prevent Wolves scoring three times. A great game but Luton's unbeaten record came to an end. Final Score - Luton 2 v 3 Wolves Goals - Luton - Lovell (35,76) Goals - Wolves - Rochemback (9), Aranda (71), Clemence (78) Sent Off - Mark Viduka (Wolves) Att - 10478 MOTM - Steve Lovell (Luton)
It has been a brilliant start to the season for Luton who could not have dreamt the start they are having. They are playing some superb football and scoring a few goals. Who knows what might happen during the season now.

Ah well Tony if you can't be bothered writing reports your place in EFB is gone. Enjoy Road to Glory as you are now no longer a member of EFB.
Cheers for playing but if this is your attitude then you can be the one fcuking off I'm afraid. The lads in this clan write some great quality reports Tony and the standard of reports is high and if you can only be bothered writing a report containing numbers and nothing else of any substance then of course I am going to comment. Why should the other lads write some great reports you be allowed to write a bunch of numbers that mean jack sh!t to anyone.
Also please do not use language like that in our thread towards another member although you are no longer a member so please do not post in this thread again.
Bye Tony.
