Billed by many as a potential title decider even at this early stage of the season seen the two teams billed as promotion favourites going head to head at Firhill.
Fans didn't have to wait long for the action to liven up as Stephen McConalogue opened the scoring for the Jags in the 4th minute.
Kjartan Henry Finnbogason levelled for the visitors in the 39th minute, only for Grant Johnson to fire Thistle back into the lead two minutes after the break, McConalogue have the chance to futher extened Partick's lead with a 75th minute penalty but blazed the ball over the bar, but in the end it didn't matter.
Looks like the Jags will win the 2nd division this season
Monday 26th December 2005 : Gretna v Stirling : Bell's League Division Two : 3-1 win
Normal service was resumed here as Gretna quickly got back to winning ways are the defeat at Partick.
Kjartan Henry Finnbogason opened the scoring in the 20th minute and David Graham quickly added another netting just 2mins later to double Gretna's advantage.
Chris Hay gave Stirling a fighting chance when he pulled a goal back in the 58th minute but any hope of a comeback lasted all of 5mins then Finnbogason netted again and that was that :thup:
Wednesday 4th January 2006 : Raith v Gretna : Bell's League Division Two : 3-1 win
Kjartan Henry Finnbogason the goal machine that he is opened the scoring in the 2nd minute but Laurie Ellis cancelled that out in the 15th minute.
Kenny Deuchar put Gretna back in front just on the stroke of half time.
There were many chances that fell to both teams in the 2nd half but no one could put them in the back of the net until the 86th minute when David Bingham sent home a penalty to put the result beoyond doubt for Gretna.
Saturday 7th January 2006 : Gretna v Hearts : Scottish Cup 3rd Rnd : 2-1 defeat
Gretna went into this Scottish cup tie hoping to cause an upset and they were clearing in the mood for doing so, as that man Finnbogason opened the scoring following a Gretna counter attack in the 24minute.
Gretna could only hold their lead for 8mins though and Edgaras Jankauskas pulled Hearts level.
2mins after half time that man Jankauskas put Hearts in front and to be quite honest Hearts could and perhaps should have scored more has they sought to put the result beyond doubt.
