Millwall Unveil New Manager
Today Millwall have announced their new manager as relatively unknown Northern Irishman David Lyness. Lyness has had a few brief managerial posts in his homeland but has impressed Millwall chairman Peter de Savary that he is the one for the job.
Millwall are currently lying 20th in the Championship and although they just put out Aston Villa in the FA Cup it wasnt enough to save their previous manager. Millwall who famously got to the FA Cup final in 2004 while still in the Championship have been unable to reach the same heights ever since and felt it was right got a change.
Chairman Peter de Savary commmented "I have to admit i had not heard of him either but the confidence he radiated and the ideas he put to me were the best i heard from any of the candidates. Its a new era for Millwall Football Club and a new young and confident manager is what we need to kick start this era.
Lyness briefly talked to the press about his new appointment saying, "I didnt expect to get the job if im honest, i just went in and been myself which is all i can do. When i got the phone call i was delighted. Millwall is a big club and 20th in the Championship is simply not good enough for the club or their fans. Lyness begins his tenure against fellow strugglers Plymouth Argyle at Home Park tommorrow and will be looking to get of to a quick start.
