I'm led to believe that my Router's Firewall is preventing me from hosting an online game of FM2006...

"Belkin"

"ADSL Modem with high-speed Wireless-G router"

That's all i know about my Router, i can't find anyway of disabling the Firewall !

Anyone able to help ?

We tried hitting refresh to see if anyone came up on the list and that didnt get any responce and then tried typing the whold IP codes.

That didnt work.

We both use Windows XP.

Any help would be greatful.
Who's hosting your game ?
If your looking for servers to play on there aren't any. You need one of you to host the game for you both to play on, it doesn't run like Counter strike or anything, you or your mate needs to create a game to play on. </BLOCKQUOTE>

We have tried hosting the game either way and it still dont work. We tried it before you said and still it dont work.

Anything else we can do? </BLOCKQUOTE>

turn off xp firewall or goto the advanced tab and allow fm.exe access to the network what ever your most comfortable with.

Decide who will be the host pc
Under the preferences tab get the host to tick the check for run game as server

get the host to start up a new game

get the host to visit this web site whats my ip

anyone wanting to join the game needs to goto network game and type in the above ip address.

you should then be able to connect.

Remeber though, any other anti virus software like norton internet security, any other firewall software will also need to be configured to allow FM to access the network and if any of you use a router that will need configuring as well.

if your the host you need to make sure that you have set up the router to port forward on the following ports

UDP 10093 and 10094
TCP 10093 and 10094

also since your playing on the same network you'll need to use the host pc local address, more than likely a 192.188.1.x address

in windows xp go to

start
run
type cmd
then type ipconfig

at the host and use this address to join the game

are you certain your giving out the correct IP address ?

The problem may be with a mates pc, grab me on msn and I'll try and connect to your pc to see if the problem might ly with your mates instead of you.

So does anyone know? I've tried searching, but it didn't help. :/
No one has really measured this, and its been an argument on here for a bit, its something I've always meant to do.

Remember just because you have broadband with say 1,2,4 or 10 meg thats only download not upload and its the upload speed of the server that maters for sending out data to the other players.

I've played with various number, around ten seems to be the limit for keeping the game moving, more than thats and there was always too much time wasting inbetween matches to make the game playable.

Saying that getting 10 dedicated players aint the easiest, people on scream to join games then turn up for two weeks then never come back.

Hello,

i have been trying to host a game on the internet between me and 1 other person. I have set up port forwarding on my router using:

UDP: 10093
TCP: 10094

I first of all create new game and tick the option "Run As Server" - i gave my friend my IP Address and he can connect and i see him connect as "New Network Client", but it does not prompt him to enter user details and if he clicks "New User" it Throws him back to the start of joining a network game and he dissapears as a New Network Client... Do i need to wait for the "So Called" patch as i have NVidia Chipset on Motherboard and an ATI Radeon X800 graphics adapter and an Athlon 64 bit Processor???

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.
