BAILEY MAKES MEDIA DEBUT

After taking the unusual decision to ignore the Welsh media for the first month of his tenure, new Aberyswyth boss Joseph Bailey today spoke to the press for the first time.

He explained he had needed time to get to know his players first and admitted to working day and night since his arrival. However, he today gave a frank , honest and uplifting press conference and promised to be more forthright with the media and fans in the future.

The St Albans born boss expressed his delight at his new job highlighting a successful holiday in the town in 1994 as motivation behind the move.

He acknowledged the dominance of Llanelli and TNS but portayed a confidence and desire to push them all the way this season. With 19 new signings in pre season, it promises to be a very interesting year at Park Avenue.

Difficult start for Mackin

Newtown boss Andrew Mackin is already feeling the strain of managemant. Lying bottom of the league after losing all 4 games, eyebrows are already being raised and questions are being asked whether Mackin wil make it to the end of the season

"I know the results haven't been going well" Said Mackin, "But our performances have been good and we're constantly improving. Our last three games have gone well, winning 2 and losing one to Rhyl. We're got through the prelim round of the Cup after falling behind and are ahead ready for the 2nd leg against Cwmbran"
"Our new formation has had positive results and I think it's just a matter of time before we move up the league

More ins and outs

With the transfer window finally closed, Mackin had just enough time to bring in 4 more youngsters. McMillian, Bunce, Potter and McGeoghegan were all bought just before the transfer window close. Hughes, Watkins, Matthews, Thomas and Ryan all left Newtown before the transfer window slammed shut for 3 months

New cwmbran town fc boss Georgie has enjoyed a mixed start to the season with a win two losses and a draw.
The lowley rated crows are hoping to survive relegation, however ambitious boss Georgie Harvey-Dell is hopin for more. "i feel with the team we have assembled we could challenge in mid table and maybe get a cup run however we have had a setback losing 1-0 in the 1st leg of the challenge cup to newtown but we feel we can peg them back."

Kluska Leads Carmarthen to the top!

With many fans voicing their concern at the appointment of such an inexperienced manager, the Carmarthen side have rallied early in the season to try and sway public opinion. Fans ar e starting to warm to the attacking football being played, and although there are still reservations, Carmarthen have made an encouraging start, sitting top of the Welsh Premier League with 3 games gone. They have also recording a 5-3 win against Harverfordfest in the first round of the Challenge Cup, keeping the hopes alive of a good cup run. New signings Taurean O'Donnell, Jerry O'Driscoll, Matthew Lee Williams and John Cusick have slotted in to great affect so far, and with a relatively large squad, Kluska has good backup in case of injuries. Whether Carmarthen can keep up this promising start and challenge Welsh giants TNS and Llanelli for the title, remains to be seen.

Mackin Anncounces Season Ambitions
Dispite being rooted to the bootom of the table without a single point, Mackin is in a bullish mood

"We may not be winning in the league, but we're winning in the cup and playing superbly. Our next game is a must win game against 2nd bottom, and I feel we'll come out on top. Everyone here at Newtown are in agreement that, with the team we have, we can push for a top 8 finish and a place in next seasons FAW Premier Cup"

Premier League

Welshpool 1 vs 0 Bangor City
Welshpool Scorers: Geraint Williams (64)
Attendance: 210
MOM: Brett Jefferies (Welshpool)
Not a good start to my Reign as Bangor City manager, team didn’t have any control over the game and Welshpool punished them for it. Team must pull together.

Bangor City 2 vs 2 TNS
Bangor City Scorers: Ashley Stott (15) & Paul Roberts (68)
TNS Scorers: Steven Beck (Pen 26) & Michael Wilde (61)
Attendance: 267
MOM: Michael Wilde (TNS)
Red Cards: John Toner (TNS) (19)
A good result against the Premier League holders even if it’s a draw. The players pulled together and dominated the match after John Toner got his marching orders. It was only two mistakes that let TNS equalise.

Welsh Cup
2nd Round

Bangor City 1 vs 0 Rhyl
Bangor City Scorer: Chris Scott (45)
Attendance: 272
MOM: Gareth Dogan (Bangor City)
Good cup win against Rhyl to avenge last season defeat in the final of the Welsh Cup. Chris Scott performed brilliantly to score on his debut.

FAW Premier Cup
1st Round

Caersws 2 vs 0 Bangor City
Caersws Scorers: Andy Marfell (51) & Graham Evans (72)
Attendance: 170
MOM: Andy Davies (Caersws)
From a good Welsh Cup win to an awful cup FAW Premier Cup defeat. The team just didn’t perform at all well. Oh well theres always next season.

Premier League

Caernarfon 1 vs 3 Bangor City
Caernarfon Scorer: Kenny Irons (Pen 66)
Bangor City Scorers: Ashley Stott (2 & 37) & Paul Friel (44)
Attendance: 370
MOM: Paul Friel (Bangor City)
Red Cards: Ben Harris (Caernarfon) (14)
A fantastic performance in the first half put this game out of reach from Caernarfon and Stott’s two goals were good followed by Freil’s effort just before half time was good.

Bangor City 0 vs 0 Airbus
Attendance: 270
MOM: John Farel (Airbus)
Not a very entertaining match but a point is better than no points.

Premiership position at end of session: 10th

Newtown Off the Mark

Eigth games into the league season, and Newtown finally have their first win. Their 2-0 victory over Welshpool would have been their second victory, but a 92nd minute equailser from Connah's Quay in the match before meant Newtown left with only a point.

Thats not the first time they've lost the game in the last minute however. In Challenge cup, Newtown looked to go through to the 2nd round after a 3-3 away goals win over Cwmbran, until a 89th minute goal from Cwmbran sent them crashing out.

"Our first win was always around the corner, we just didn't know where the corner was" said Mackin. "Hopefully, we can turn our good performances into results"

Newtown Climb up the Table

Newtown have sparked an amazing midseason turn around and have climbed up to 11th in the league. This is thanks to a 7 game unbeaten run, which included an away victory against Llanell

"Its a fantastic turnaround" said Mackin. "The important thing is to maintain it to avoid dropping down the league"
