West Ham enter a brave new era – The rouchie years
After a pretty awful start to the season Rouch will be looking to lift spirits and get some wins under the belt for September and move the hammers away from the relegation zone and into security. Qualifying for the group phase of the UEFA cup is also a priority in a very important month for the Irons
Charlton Vs West Ham– Sunday 10th September 2006
A trip to the valley to meet former hammer Ian Dowies Charlton kicks off to a pretty poor start when Rommedahl nets home after just 10 minutes to give Charlton an early lead. Matty Holland, and ex West Ham Academy player, compounds the misery as he doubles the advantage for the Addicks. West Ham’s fragile confidence looks set to ebb away but Carlitos Tevez pops up 3 minutes later to claw one back and inject a bit of belief in to the travelling fans an the team!! Rouch got to work at the interval firing up the team for a second half onslaught to regain parity and his work paid off in the 56th minute when Lee Bowyer sent the large travelling claret & blue contingent wild with a fine equaliser to cap off a great comeback and earn another valuable point on the road!

In the end though West Ham ran out comfortable winners with an early penalty conversion from Big Deano and then Wisla’s Marcin Lebeoda sent off on 24 minutes and to complete the set a second half own goal from Wisla’s Thwaite leaving the Hammers in a commanding position for the second leg and giving West Ham their first win of the season

With a win under the Hammers belt at last, albeit in Europe, the team were now looking for a win in the league. Fellow Clan Manager
Tony Hall brings his Newcastle side to The Boleyn on the back of a 4 game winning spree and keen to continue the trend. In less than a minute though the dreams of extending the wining run went out of the window as Yossi Benayoun sublimely struck home to put the home side ahead! Danny Gabbidon doubled the advantage just before the 20 minute mark and West Ham threatened to run rampant. Carlitos Tevez made it 3 shortluy after half an hour had elapsed. Nobby Solano pulled one bag for the Magpies just before the break but all hope of a come back was shattered by a poor performance from Newcastle in the second half, while West Ham went from strength to strength and sealed the game with a second from Carlitos near the end of the game. The fans celebrated their first premiership win of the season with fervour as the team took the plaudits

Arsenal Vs West Ham– Saturday 23rd September 2006
A trip to he Emirates against a team West Ham have enjoyed success against in recent games, but it was the home side who struck the first blow in this London Derby with Adebayour scoring midway through the first half. Carlitos Tevez responded on 40 with a stunning equaliser but the lead was regained on the stroke of half time with a typical Freddi Ljungberg strike. In to the second half and the game was evenly contested until Arsenal took what looked like the winning goal in the 84th minute putting them 3-1 ahead. West Ham though, remembering the fightback at Charlton confounded conventional wisdom and pulled one back within 2 minutes through the muscular Dean Ashtonand then Matty Etherington pulled of the greatest comeback since lazurus when he netted the equaliser in the dying seconds of injury time and sent all the travelling support home with a broad grin on their faces
