So I finally decided to get off my lazy ass and do my update from last year, and it starts with a home game against Charlton.
Premiership
Man City 2 - 0 Charlton
Man City go into the game as 13-8 underdogs but its the managers birthday today and the players are planning on giving him the best present he could want. Joey Barton gets the game underway with a long shot after only 9 minutes. Samaras doubles the lead 10 minutes into the second half and City dominate the rest of the game to win 2-0.
Man City Scorers: Barton (9), Samaras (57) Attendance:46475 MotM Samaras (Man City)
A nice win to move to 14th place.
League Cup 3rd Round
Manchester City 3 - 1 MK Dons
City go into this game as heavy favourites but will have to guard against complacency. But as with the last match Barton gets the game underway with a long shot after only 6 minutes. But the Dons only need 6 minutes to grab the equaliser through McLeod. City's top scorer Samaras pops up on the stroke of half time to give City the lead at the break. He adds to his score tally again in the second half to give City the win that they deserve.
Man City Scorers: Barton (6), Samaras (43, 64) MK Dons Scorers: McLeod (12) Attendance: 40412 MotM: Samaras (Man City)
A great win in the cup to set us up with a 4th round away tie at Preston who currently lie 12th in the Championship.
Premiership
Newcastle 1 - 1 Manchester City
So a tricky away game at Tony's Newcastle and City go in as 3-1 underdogs. But its City who take the lead after only 11 minutes through Sylvian Distin, scoring a header from a corner. The first half remains 1-0 with Newcastle dominating with 56% possession. Into the second half and the pressure continues but City are able to hang on. That is until the last second of the game when Rossi grabs what may be considered the deserved equaliser, but I call it the jammy bastard goal.
Newcastle Scorers: Rossi (92) Man City Scorers: Distin (11) Attendance: 52348 MotM: Taylor (Newcastle)
Unfortunately I had to leave for a few minutes and the assistant manager had to take control of the game against Arsenal. But I will be giving him a pay rise soon as we managed to win 2-1.
Premiership
Manchester City 2 - 1 Arsenal
Samaras gives City the lead after 41 minutes with a penalty. But Hleb equalises on the stroke of half time. Corradi gives City the win with a goal after 59 minutes.
Man City Scorers: Samaras (pen 41), Corradi (59) Arsenal Scorers: Hleb (45)
So now sitting in 12th place and still in the cup .
League Cup 4th Round
Preston 0 - 2 Man City
So a good chance now to progress further in the cup as the only human manager left. And it takes only 6 minutes for Samaras to add to his impressive tally. Corradi adds another to his tally too after 42 minutes to give City the 2-0 win. At the end of the game Preston had 52% of the possession but the City defence did well to hold them off with 0 shots on goal.
Man City Scorers: Samaras (6), Corradi (42) Attendance: 15986 MotM: Samaras (Man City)
So a nice win in the cup to take us into the quarter finals and an away tie at Middlesbrough.
A pretty boring home tie against Bolton now and there is not really much to report. Stephen Ireland gets the game underway after 7 minutes with a header. And thats how the game ends. 8 shots on goal with 6 on target and 50% possession, so nobody can say we didn't deserve our boring win.
Man City Scorers: Ireland (7) Attendance: 47961 MotM: Samaras (Man City)
That win is enough to move us into the top 10 with an away game coming up against Goldy's Everton.
Premiership
Everton 0 - 0 Manchester City
Yet another boring game, but given that before the dreaded crash of last week Everton actually took the game 3-0, I am happy to go away with a point. The game was pretty even with both teams enjoying as much of the ball, but with only a few shots on target neither keeper had much work to do.
Attendance: 40539 MotM: Richards (Man City)
2 points dropped and we move down to 10th place, but I am happy to be in the top 10.
Premiership
Manchester City 2 - 0 Fulham
Man City go into this game as 4-7 favourites but they will have to guard against complacency. But Fulham give Citeh a gift in the 15th minute when Omozusi is sent off. Man City fail to capatalise however and the game remains 0-0 at half time. The second half is only 4 minutes old when Robbie Fowler gives City their deserved lead. 7 minutes later he adds a second from the penalty spot and the 3 points stay in Manchester.
Man City Scorers: Fowler (49, pen 56) Attendance: 44853 MotM: Fowler (Man City)
Another win moves City up another 2 places to 8th. And manager Johnston is rewarded for his efforts by being voted 2nd for the manager of the month award.
Premiership
Reading 2 - 2 Manchester City
Yet again City go into the game as 4-7 favourites but its Reading who start the game looking more like the favourites. And after 40 minutes Lita gives them the lead. After half time Vassell caps a good comeback for City and equalises. However Reading continue to apply the pressure and Lita grabs his second after 72 minutes. Robbie Fowler saves the day for City with the equaliser in the last minute of the game. Happy to take the point and perhaps a little lucky too.
Reading Scorers: Lita (40, 72) Man City Scorers: Vassel (59), Fowler (89) Attendance: 24192 MotM: Distin (Man City)
A draw and City move back down to 10th place. And thats it for tonight.
On another note, City are handed an away tie at Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup.
Saturday 18th November 2006: Portsmouth v West Ham: Premiership: 1-1 draw
A tight affair this one although West Ham will perhaps feel they should have come away from this game with all three points in the bank.
Andrey Arshavin gave the home side the lead right on the stroke of half time, but the hammers levelled the match four minutes after the restart.
The bulk of the reamining chances fell to West Ham but they where unable to take advantage of them.
Wednesday 22nd November 2006: Reading v Portsmouth: Premiership: 1-1 draw
Another damn draw in this one
Andrey Arshavin opened the scoring for us in the 24th minute, chance after chance fell to us but we couldn't convert them and then Steve Sidewell levelled things up with four minutes remaining on the clock.....the bastard :thdn:
Sunday 26th November 2006: Aston Villa v Portsmouth: Premiership: 2-1 win
3 points \o/
Benjani sent us on our way in this one with his strike in the 3rd minute to leave Villa stunned.
Things went from bad to worse for Villa as Gary Cahill headed the ball past his own keeper to give us a 2-0 lead.
Gareth Barry pulled one back for Villa right on the stroke of half time, but Villa got exactly what they deserved from this match.........nothing.
Wednesday 29th November 2006: Middlesbrough v Portsmouth: Premiership: 3-2 win
A cracker of a match at the Riverside stadium this one, Milan Baros gave boro an early lead i the 6th minute, former Spurs player Mido pulled Pompey level in the 17th minute, Andrey Arshavin fired us back into the lead in the 21st minute. Boro looked to find a way back into the match in the second half and make a breakthrough in the 67th minute when James Morrison pulled his side level. Just when Boro thought they might have done enough to secure a point Nwankwo Kanu struck in the 77th minute to wrap up three well deserved points for Portsmouth.
Saturday 2nd December 2006: Portsmouth v Waford: Premiership: 3-1 win
Another comfortable win for my lads in this one, Mido sent us on our way in the the 8th minute. Two minutes later Ashley Young pulled Watford level and the scores stayed that way until Mido struck again in the 59th minute, the result was put beyond all doubt by Sol Campbell in the 90th minute as he fired home from close range.
Saturday 9th December 2006: Tottenham v Portsmouth: Premiership: 3-3 draw
There couldn't be a better time to face surprise league leaders Spurs after our current run of good form and what a cracker this game turned out to be, it took all of 23 seconds for Nwankwo Kanu to fire us into the lead, We where caught cold celeberating the goal as Dimitar Berbatov broke free and and pulled Spurs level, and all of this within the opening two minutes of the game. The scores remained deadlocked as both sides went in for the interval. The pace was quickly picked up in the second half as Berbatov grabbed his second goal of the game in the 54th minute, but Spurs found their lead to be short lived as Andrey Arshavin pulled us level in the 59th minute, Benjani gave us the lead (again) in the 71st minute and this time we managed to hold it for longer that 90 seconds but it still wasn't enough as Brian McBride struck to level things up with 2 minutes left in the match.
West Ham enter a brave new era – The rouchie years
We enter November with West Ham maintaining mid table respectability/mediocrity and the manager craving a consistent run of positive results.
West Ham Vs Paris SG– Wednesday 1st November 2006
Another European night under the lights at the Boleyn but a poor start by the hammers lets Paris SG take an early lead when Pauleta ghosted past the defence and fired home from short range just before the half hour. This seemed to galvanise the hammers in to action though and Carlitos Tevez levelled for the home side just 6 minutes later to put the smile back on the fans faces. He second half saw West Ham camped in the PSG half as they sought the winner and mid way through the half Nigel Reo-Coker duly obliged putting the hammers ahead for the first time in the game. Marlon the Mekon wrapped the game up in the dying seconds with a third for West Ham and sealed a good win that keeps the Irons top of their group in Europe
Final Score : West Ham 3 Paris SG 1 West Ham Scorers : Tevez(33) Reo-Coker (74) Harewood (90) PSG Scorers : Pauletta (27) Attendance : 31306 Man Of The Match: Yossi Benayoun (West Ham)
West Ham V Reading– Sunday 5th November 2006
Carlitos continued his rich vein of scoring form putting the Irons ahead mid way through the first half, rewarding West Hams domination and sending the home side into the break a goal to the good. Reading equalised in the second half through Kevin Doyle and succeded in locking West Ham out for the remainder of the game which ended 1-1 Final Score : West Ham 1 Reading 1 West Ham Scorers : Tevez(20) Reading Scorers: Doyle (65) Attendance : 31017 Man Of The Match: Ibrahima Sonko (Reading)
Portsmouth Vs West Ham –Saturday 18th November 2006
A trip to Fratton Park and fellow clan manager Steff and his Pompey millionaires were waiting for West ham. A tightly contested game which Pompey took the initiative in on the stroke of half time when the aptly named Arshavin slotted home the opening goal for the home side. The Hammers responded 4 minutes after the restart with yet another goal for the Argetinian Striker to level the score. Despite both teams playing an attractive flowing game of football neither side could break the deadlock again and had to be content with a share of the points.
Final Score : Portsmouth 1 West Ham 1 Portsmouth Scorers:Arshavin (45) West Ham Scorers : Tevez(49) Attendance : 20269 Man Of The Match: Javier Mascherano (West Ham)
OFK Beograd Vs West Ham – Wednesday 22nd November 2006
A trip overseas again as the European adventure continued and Dean Ashton set the tone of the evening when he scored early in the first half. West Ham dominated proceedings and it was surprising that they had to wait until the middle of the second half to add to the first goal. It was Tevez yet again who grabbed the much delayed second goal! The bigger surprise came on 756 minutes when OFK not only ventured over their half way line for the first time but actually managed a goal in the same move  The home side were unable to build on this though and West Ham hung on to a deserved win and the top spot in the group table Final Score : OFK Beograd 1 West Ham 2 West Ham Scorers : Ashton (7) Tevez (63) OFK Beograd : Pejic (75) Attendance : 3302 Man Of The Match: Nigel Reo-Coker (West Ham)
West Ham Vs Midlesbrough – Saturday 25th November 2006
The hammers dominated this game from start to finish and big Deano gave a masterclass in finishing as the prolific striker bagged a hatrick and moved into the limelight and out from the Argentinians shadow! A first half strike put the Hammers one nil ahead and another in the second doubled the advantage before Maccarone pulled one back for the visitors and threatened to make a game of it! Dean Ashton then secured his hatrick, and the three points with the clinching goal 7 minutes before the end :ccol:
Final Score : West Ham 3 Middlesbrough 1 West Ham Scorers: Ashton (3, 62, 83) Boro Scorers:Maccarione (68) Attendance : 34877 Man Of The Match: Dean Ashton (West Ham)
Watford Vs West Ham –Tuesday 28th November2006
The winning ways of West Ham continued against the Hornets, although it was a tight game which was ferciously contested and in the end only the sublime finishing of Carlitos Tevez seperated the two sides to finish a fine month for both the player and the team  Final Score : West Ham 1 Watford 0 West Ham Scorers : Tevez (59) Attendance : 17609 Man Of The Match: Carlos Tevez (West Ham)
A good month for the hammers and Anton Ferdinand saw his fine performances recognised with a runner up slot in the Young Player of the month award. Carlos Tevez picked up second place in the goal of the month award with his wonder goal against Watford. West Ham to their UEFA cup group and have climbed to 7th in the league.
