Ian Holloway leaves and Lee Owens steps in
Plymouth today have named Lee Owens as their new manager which somewhat comes as a shock to most fans if not all after a brief falling out with the board led to Holloways dismisal.
Not many of the fans know a lot about Lee Owens all they do know is that he has been without a club for sometime and some fans feel its a big risk taking him on.
Owens who had recently bowed out of football management did hint that there was only one job that would probably re-instate him back into the managing world and this must of been that job.
Today a discussion was held with the board and the appointment was confirmed.
Moments after the discussion Owens was called in for an interview with Sky Sports who wanted to ask a few questions about the new appointment heres what happened.
Sky sports: Is this the dream job you were waiting for? if so then what are your ambitions for this ever improving club?
Me: Well its always a dream to have any job in football management and im happy Plymouth decided to take me on. I cant guarantee anything but my ambitions are to build a solid youth system and guide plymouth into the premiership in no less than 5 seasons time.
Sky sports: How have the fans reacted to your appointment and how do you expect to win them over?
Me: The fans have been someone disappointed with me being named as the new manager but i expected that I cant win them over overnight. If I keep winning games and delivering the goods aswell as buying players that they know and love then they will eventually begin to back me.
Sky sports: Plymouth have gone through many managers in the past few seasons is your appointment short term or more long term?
Me: I've currently only signed a 1 year contract but I plan to stay here for many more seasons than that and if i can deliver what i want to then i shouldnt see now reason why i wont be at this club in seasons to come.
Sky sports: With expansions being planned at Home Park thats going to have a massive effect on your budget what do you plan to do with this and who do you plan to bring in?
Me: I'm still in the process of assessing the squad but from what I have seen so far we got good depth, maybe not the biggest squad in the division but we got a few players that can play in many positions which is always a good thing to have. Im not saying too much about new signings but I plan to sign at least 1 player in every position and if i can get a few well known ones that will be great. This brought the interview to an end.
Sky sports: Thanks for taking the time out to answer a few questions, we look forward to speaking again soon and we wish you all the best with Plymouth.
The expectations are clear "Avoid relegation"
To do that I will need to sign a few players most probably and as long as they aint scottish i've got a fighting chance
