The Rossoneri Review
Heading toward the end of the season and Milan have a lot of work to do to close in on Roma and Inter above them!
Palermo Vs Milan – Sunday 11th March 2007
Milan were p1ss poor as they slumped to defeat against a team they should have comfortably beaten, losing ground in Serie A as Lazio eased past them into 3rd and Inter and Roma extended the gap. Rouch kept the team in the changing room for 2 hours after the game and read every player the riot act and made them realise what they were throwing away
Final Score : Palermo 2 Milan 0
Palermo Scorers : Amauri (38) Di Michele (53)
Attendance : 38477
Man Of The Match: Lukas Sinkiewicz (Palermo)
Milan Vs Livorno Sunday 18th March 2007
A fragile looking Milan had to wait until the second half for Totti to put the Rossoneri ahead. Milan never looked comfortable, even when Livorno lost Arzu to a red car mid way through the second half, and everyone looked relieved when the whistle blew and Milan had hung on to the 1-0 win. As Rouch said after the match “A win is a win is a win” whatever that meant
Final Score : Milan 1 Livorno 0
Milan Scorers : Totti (59)
Attendance : 57862
Man Of The Match: Samuel Kuffour (Livorno)
Roma Vs Milan –Sunday 1st April 2007
A trip to the Olimpico Stadium to face
Gareth Jenkinson and his high flying Roma side, who would be looking for some revenge after Roma dumped them out of the Italian Cup at the semi final stage and the horse man van Nistelrooy wasted no time in starting to make amends when he slotted home after just 3 minutes. Okaka scored Rom’s second 20 minutes later and Roma looked like they were going to run away with it, but the former Roma golden boy and favourite son, Francesco Totti pulled one back for Milan when a penalty was awarded on the 39th minute. Unfortunately for Milan though they were unable to bridge the remaining gap and their title challenge was effectively killed off in this fixture as they slumped to another defeat
Final Score : Roma 2 Milan 1
Roma Scorers : van Nistelrooy (3) Okaka(24)
Milan Scorers : Totti (Pen 39)
Attendance : 81165
Man Of The Match: Daniel Carvalho (Roma)
Valencia Vs Milan – Wednesday 4th April 2007 – Champions League Quarter Final Leg 1
With Milan in sketchy form at the moment and following the defeat at Roma, this Champions league match came at the worst possible moment. Milan started brightly though and surprised Valencia with their confident play in the first half, especially when Totti put the visitors ahead 10 minutes from the break. Valencia came out hard in the second half and looked determined to pull themselves back in to the game. It was no surprise when Angulo smashed home the equaliser mid way through the second 45. Milan looked on the ropes and David Villa supplied the sucker punch when he knocked home the leg winner giving Valencia the advantage.
Final Score : Valencia 2 Milan 1
Valencia Scorers : Angulo (68) Villa (78)
Milan Scorers : Totti (36)
Attendance : 54883
Man Of The Match: Miguel Angel Angulo (Valencia)

Final Score : Milan 2 Sampdoria 0
Reggina Scorers : Bianchi (11) Kaladze (OG 15

Milan Vs Valencia – Wednesday 11th April 2007 – Champions Quarter Final Leg 2
With the league campaign crumbling before his eyes, Rouch was keen to impress on his players the importance of maintaining their European Campaign. Trailing 2-1 from the first leg, they had the all important away goal. Milan started well and looked in control despite their recent poor run. Half time was reached with neither team conceding, but Milan did look the more likely to do so! Just before the hour the San Siro erupted when Alberto Gillardino scored for Milan putting the aggregate score to 2-2, but more importantly handing the advantage to Milan thanks to the away goal rule! Roberto Ayala was dismissed for the visitors 20minutes later as the frustration began to set in as Valencia realised their Champions League ambitions were slipping away! Valencia wilted after the sending off, Milan hung on to the lead and qualified for the semi finals
Final Score : Milan 1 Valencia 0 (2-2 on agg - Milan win on away goals)
Milan Scorers : Gillardino (59)
Attendance : 59245
Man Of The Match: Alessandro Nesta (Milan)
Milan have blown all chances of a League win, which was a big ask when starting with an 8 point deficit, but the nature of the recent performances must be a concern to the manager, especially losing the way they did to “lesser” teams. The one positive to come out of this session was reaching the Semi Final stage of the Champions League, where they will face fellow clan manager
Esteban Browning and his Barcelona, which guarantees that there will be a clan manager in the Champions League final
