There was a transfer embargo over Arsenal fc for the first month of the transfer window as Lee Claydon still had not decided whether to keep Robert Boyle as manager or not. Transfers In
Robert Boyle was hoping that Claydon would decide soon because Miroslav Klose still had not signed a contract with Werder Bremen abnd he was sure another team would go in for him. But eventually the embargo was lifted and Arsenal offered a contract to Mioslav Klose and got him on a free transfer. With Mr. Claydon giving Robert Boyle £42 million to spend on players he decided to splash the cash on Didier Drogba for £30 million. Arsenal have scored the most goals for the past two seasons but they should definetely do that by some way now with a strikeforce of Thierry Henry, Didier Drogba, Miroslav Klose, Robin Van Persie abnd Carlos Vela. Transfers Out
Arsenal did not get a single penny from selling players although they sold ten players (five players released and five players sold to clubs.) The players that have been released are Jérémie Aliadiére, Niklas Bendter, Vito Mannone, Arturo Lupoli, Joe O'Cearuill. Three players went to Sheffield United they were Giorgios Efrem, Abu Ogogo and Carl Parisio. Also Manuel Almunia went to Osasuna and Fabrice Muamba went to Fulham.

Ray Daniels:This is an exciting time for the club. We have a young squad that will continue to improve. The key is to keep that group together, that is our plan. They will benefit from playing with experienced players like Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Rio Ferdinand, who have grown up at the club and risen through the ranks.
We hope to see further maturity from younger players such as Gerard Pique and De Guzman, who can both, one day be regarded as the best in the world. We have high hopes for them, but they are not alone. There's a whole group of even younger players coming up through the ranks. We have a healthy future.
You have to be patient and maybe wait 2 or 3 years for them to fully develop. Players don't reach their peak at 20 or 21, they fufil their potential at 24 or 25. We are prepared to wait and make sure they learn the right way. We don't want to rush them. With young players u expect consistency. Last season we experienced that.

August started with a draw against Saint-Ettienne, they scored in the fourth minute and Arsenal only got a draw because of Thierry Henrys spectacular goal from thirty yards. Then Arsenal snatched a close game against Charlton by Klose and Drogba scoring a goal a piece in the last two minutes, Arsenal came back from a goal behind. Then Arsenal hammered Saint-Etienne in the return leg at the Emirates, they won six-nil with Drogba scoring an absolute screamer and Toure, Baptista, Henry(2) and Klose also got in the act. In the next match Manchester City scraped a win against Arsenal with a Joey Barton penalty after Miroslav Kloses goal put Arsenal in the lead. In the final match of the month Arsenal continued there great form over Robert Boyle's hometown club, Liverpool. As they hammered them again (Ahmed lol) 4-1 with Klose getting a superb hat trick.
