After the departure of Bill Dearden, Mansfield Town have appointed a complete unknown.
Scott Howarth, a former trolley collector at his local supermarket, has been given the job of managing the Stags.
During the press conference was said to be "delighted" at the chance of managing a team within the football league. He also mentioned that the club does have plenty of potential to be a promotion contender.
Quote:
Interviewer: "What are your first thoughts of the club?"
Howarth: "First of all I'm delighted at being appointed and believe the club has potential in a year or so of being in contention for promotion".
Interviewer: "What sort of experience do you have to manage a club within the football league when the club already had Bill Dearden?"
Howarth: "The only experience I have is playing the Football Manager series on my PC at home. I only applied for the job as a laugh really and was surprised when I got a reply back to be honest".
Interviewer: "Wow! That's even more shocking! Mansfield are predicted to finish in the lower part of the league. Do you believe you can survive, for example, a relegation fight?"
Howarth: "I'm here for as long as James and the fans want me. If we are in a relegation fight then so be it. All I can do is my best and if that's not enough then I wish the club all the best of luck".

With no official experience within managing in the footballing world, except for a computer game, Howarth has really got a job on to win over the Stags' fans.
