With finances in the 2017/18 season at an all time low once again manager Phlapstito would have to use all of his scouting skills to bring in suitable players to finally lift Sant Andreau from liga B3.
To do this the manager turned to Lithuania and other Eastern European countries as they just could not afford to buy in good homegrown Spanish talent.
At the end of the first transfer window no fewer than 6 Lithuaians had joined Sant Andreu.
These were joined by a hungarian and surprisingly a good Spanish prospect whom Phlapstito decided to splash the bulk of his transfer funds on, paying sixty thousand.
Mindaugas Jankauskas, Lithuanian DC/DM, signed from FBK Kaunas for 3k.
Virginius Sidlauskas, Lithuanian ST, signed from Erkanas for 4k.
Paulius Brichkus, Lithuanian DM, signed from Ekranus on a free.
Darius Juska, Lithuanian ST, signed from Ekranus on a free.
Paul Amison, Hungarian ST, signed from ZTE for free.
Tomas Skinderis, Lithuanian DC, signed from FBK Kaunas for free.
David Rodriguez Suarez, Spanish AMLC, signed from Osasuna for 60k.
Andrius Slavickas, Lithuanian CB, signed from FBK Kaunas for free.
With these new faces Phlapstito hoped he would be able to compete in the league and once again gain a play off spot.
Sant Andreau at half way in the season found themselves just off the play off spots with the new signings starting to bed in nicely.
The Sants were then rocked by the news that their young Belgian keeper Jean-Pierre Boli whom Phlapstito had picked up for a paltry 1k the season before had attracted the interest of heavy weights Barcalona and Real Madrid.
These fears were confirmed when the Sants recieved a for them staggering offer from Barcalona of 1.3 million, which the Sant Andreu board had no hesitation in accepting due to the financial crisis at the club (debts had soared to 600k and losses were being recorded each month).
With a bidding war between Barcalona and Real Madrid in full swing, recently promoted side Elche under the management of Gaz Torino enter the fray with a bid of 1.5 million.
After much discussion in what many deemed was a surprise choice Boli with a heavy heart accepted Elches offer and packed his bags for the Spanish First Division.
Although the Sants lost their first choice keeper the cash injection was much needed and Phlapstito would now be able to offer more in wages and for the first time in years was below his salary cap.
Almost over shadowed by the departure of Boli was the arrival of yet another Lithuanian, striker Giedrius Kudzinskas who manager Phlapstito immediately affectionately nicknamed Bob.
With the arrival of Bob came the goals late on in the season that snuck Sant Andreau into the play off finals.
Unfortunately once again the Sant Andreau Bulls found themselves hornless as they went down meekly over two legs to the B2 champions Palencia.
Promotion from B3 would once again have to wait, but with finaces for the first time into the positives with the sale of Boli the future for Sant Andreau is a positive one.
The start of the 2018/19 season would not be a quiet one with money to spend in the transfer market to bring in new players of 500k it was departures that the media were talking about.
Phlapstito has long had the reputation of being able to find raw talent and then have the board sell them out from under him Vaclav Machacek being a prime example.
With so much media attention star central defender Jozef Basista had become unhappy and with only a year left on his contract and unwilling to sign another deal manger Phlapstito had no choice but to again cash in on one of his prized assets.
Basista joined Valladolid for 950k after arriving at Sant Andreau from Slovakian side Nitra for 2k in the 2014/15 season.
Once again Phlapstitos canny transfer dealings had netted the Sants a huge profit.
New faces again came flooding in to strengthen Sant Andreaus very european squad.
Tomas Zytautas, Lithuanian ST, signed from FBK Kaunas for free.
Martin Jurcik, Cech Republic ST, signed for free.
Vyacheslav Zaitsev, Russian GK, signed from Dinamo Moscow for 6k.
Souza, Brazilian AMRL, signed from Guaratingueta for 80k.
Now manager Phlapstito believed he had a squad capable of finally gaining promotion from the hell that is B3.
Sant Andreau started the season in fine form scoring 9 goals and only conceeding 1 in their first three games of the season.
The only blips in an impressive first half of the season were losses to Terrassa, Valencia Mestalla and twice to Badalona in the league and spanish cup.
With 13 games to play Sant Andreau find themselves in 2nd place in the division having won 13 drawn 7 and lost 3.
The form of Bob giving Sant Andreau the launching pad the Sants needed with 15 goals in 20 league appearences so far.
Along with Bob as a true talent in front of goal, the emergence of the solid central defensive pairing of Macial and Slavickas has given Sant Andreau fans the belief that maybe, just maybe this could be their year.
If the Sants can hold their nerve manager Phlapstito believes he has the squad and finally the finances to gain promotion.
