Elche in Europe

At last the dream has come true. Elche will be competing in Europe for the first time ever this season. After a wonderfully tense end to last season Elche who found them self slip out of the last Champions League spot managed to hold on and secure a long awaited UEFA cup berth. However it wasn't all good news for Elche as the club seen some key players depart in the summer including Arias, Endo, Schmidt, Holler and maybe the biggest of all Spanish Striker Junior who left the club for £11.5m.

Tonerinho wouldn't be drawn on the sale of his prized assest but simply stated "Players who no longer have an interest in playing for the club. No longer interest me" Tonerinho however was quick to splash the cash and captured Brazilian defensive midfielder Dunga who Tonerinho must be hoping he'll live up to his namesake. Left winger Torales also joined the club along with £9m frontman Visicido from Genoa as the club look forward to their assualt on Europe. Tonerinho was quick to point out however that their european adventure must not get in the way of the league as Elche hope to build on last seasons impressive 6th place finish.

sitting just outside the play-offs again but looking strong, got to the 4th rd of the Spanish Cup where we met Real Madrid where we lost 2-1 on agg
beating Madrid in our own patch
oh and we beat Eibar with 10 men with a last kick of the ball , which was pleasing.
no plans as such to bring in new faces,but we'll review that during the window.
