Monday's session saw us start away to Boston. We played pretty well in this game. Boston took the lead early in the first half. We had several chances after that to equalise but couldn't take them and lost 1-0. Another away game followed at Northampton. We outplayed Northampton from start to finish but somehow managed to lose 2-0. This season is beginning to resemble our last season in League One.
It was League Cup duty and we travelled to face Millwall. We played well again but lost 2-1 with our goal coming from a Robson penalty late on. Back to the league as we hosted Burnely, who were top. A good first half performance saw us go in 1-0 up thanks to Pekhart. Goals from Robson and Brooker in the second half saw us run out deserved 3-0 winners. We looked to build on this when we played Swindon at home. A stunning first half saw us go in 3-0 up thanks to Pekhart, Brooker and an og. We played well in the second half with Brooker scoring his second to make the final score 4-0.
It was away to league leaders Stoke next. This was a very even game with neither side create any clear cut chances. In the end 0-0 was a fair result. We followed this with a 1-1 draw with Stockport with Brooker scoring our goal. Wycombe away was next. This was the classic game of two halves. A fine first half performance saw us go in 2-0 up thanks to Brooker & Bowes. We were awful in the second half as we lost 3 goals to lose 3-2.
We faced Colchester way in the JPT next. We took the lead after 2 minutes with a stunning long range free kick from Robson. That was as good as the first half would get as we lost 3 goals to go in 3-1 down. We pulled one back thanks to an own goal before we lost a 4th late on to make the final score 4-2. We travelled to Crystal Palace next. This was another dismal performance and we lost 3-2 with our goals coming from Brooker.
We looked to get back to winning ways at home to Bristol City. We got off to the worst possible start when Robson scored an own goal. We hit back in impressive style as Gow equalised before a Pekhart double put us 3-1 up at half time. We had another shocking second half performance as we lost 2 goals to end up drawing 3-3. We faced Swansea at home next. We played well in the first half and went in 1-0 up thanks to Fordyce. Swansea had the better of the second half but we managed to hold on for a 1-0 win.
It was FA Cup duty next as we hosted Oxford. After dominating the first half we finally took the lead when Smith scored on half time. Gow added a second shortly after half time. Oxford scored late on to make the final score 2-1. All this left us in 16th place after 17 games, 4 points above the drop zone and 7 from the play offs.
